- Conqueror is, according to our guide, one two hotels in Pindaya that caters to western tourists. She added that the Conqueror was the best in town. There were only two other tourists in the hotel the night we were there. We were warmly welcomed and escorted to our room.
- The rooms are chalet type accommodations. The room was large, with a fireplace. The bathroom was unique – very large, with separate toilet, shower and tub. The shower had a floor covered with rocks. We guessed that the aim was to create a cave like atmosphere to the bathroom. The room itself was of wood and bamboo, very nicely appointed. We were startled when a huge black spider emerged in the bathroom. We quickly disposed of it.
- When we went to leave for our excursion were realised the back door would not lock. I called the receptionist who said that he would send someone over to fix it. A few minutes later he called and said that we would be transferred to another similar room. Obviously the problem with the door was longstanding.
- On our return we had two more huge spiders in the bathroom plus some smaller ones. They must be living in the rocks or in the drains. Apparently they are quite harmless, so said the guide.
- The hotel is situated at the foot of the Pindaya Caves. We walked out from the hotel to the caves. On our return walked around the lake in town to see the town. So the location is quite good.
- Breakfast was fine with fruit, freshly cooked eggs and hot toast.
- The hotel is built in the traditional Myanmar style, and that we enjoyed. The spiders we could have done without. The hotel had constant electric power, no small feat in Myanmar. It is rated as a two star and that is exactly what the hotel presented us. He room amenities were fine, even satellite television. The hotel presented us with a complimentary fruit dish upon our return from excursion. The gesture was appreciated.
