I stayed at LTI Thalassa Hotel in Sousse with my Husband in October 2011 for 4 nights all inclusive. We have stayed in quite a few hotels in Sousse and this is certainly one of the best. The hotel is situated in the North end of Sousse in between Sousse and Port El Kantaoui. The hotel reception / foyer is very modern in appearance and there are lots of sofas and arm chairs to relax in, there is also wifi available however it is not free, I think it was 5TD for 1hr (but if you go outside the hotel to the Ella Center coffee shop next door they have free wifi, and coffee is about 1.5TD.
The hotel throughout appeared immaculately clean and staff very friendly and not hovering for tips.
Rooms / Chalets
Before booking this hotel on the internet I researched it a bit to see if there are any rooms which are not chalet / bungalow style, which there were, the hotel has about 2 blocks which have 3 floors and these rooms are the same price as the chalet / bungalows. When you book you cannot select an option if you prefer one of these you can only write it as an additional request that you would prefer and upper floor. (Reason we prefer upper floor is simply for more privacy in being able to leave balcony doors open, and being able to dry our clothes with out the concern that they will still be on the balcony when we return to our room).
The room was very nice and clean and very close to the main hotel. Please bare in mind if you do request a a chalet instead near the beach or adults pool although they are very well positioned, it is quite a walk to the main hotel. However if you request a chalet next to the main pool you will be near the hotel.
Food
The BEST all inclusive restaurant I have ever been to. The food is very nice, there is a huge varied selection, and it couldn't be more fresh. There is a large choice of salad, then there are a tapas / finger food kind of selection, many hot dishes to choose from including a few English dishes, cottage pie, beef stew, fish in batter and french fries and vegetables. There is a pasta buffet with 5 different types of pasta and 5 different pasta sauces, and freshly made pizza. Breakfast there is again a great selection, if you like to stick with English food there are sausages, baked beans, fried bread, scrambled egg, boiled egg, omelette etc… and of course all the continental selection. The waiters really keep on top of things in the restaurant unlike a lot of other hotels which are equally as busy, I don't think I once saw a table that hadn't been cleared immediately or a spillage that hadn't been cleaned up.
Bar / Drinks
The bar is very warm, welcoming and comfy, it is filled with low lighting, table lamps, standing lamps and carpeted to add extra comfort, there is a large terrace outside the bar where there was live music played every evening with many comfortable cushioned outdoor lounge seating and a table serving punch. The all inclusive drinks served were average, beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, tea & coffee. There is a pool bar which is again is very nice and handy for the chalets / rooms near the main pool and then the beach bar and beach snack bar.
Swimming Pool
We went into the main outdoor pool once during our stay as it was mid October and there was quite a cool breeze when we were there. There are 3 water slides for all and there's a children's pool area. The adults pool looked very relaxing and ideal if you are in a chalet next to it as it would just be like staying in a villa.
We used the indoor swimming pool once, it isn't very big but this was ok as wasn't too bust the time we were there.
Everything else
The hotel does lack entertainment. They do have an animation team but they don't seem to be put to use. As there is not an indoor show room (just out door theatre with tiered seating open high season), the evening shows low season are in the nightclub which is in the main hotel downstairs. The bar in the night club was not open when the shows were on which was inconvenient for everyone as everyone had to walk up stairs (or lift) to the main bar. To be honest the shows were not worth watching unless you are very easily amused (there were a few that were laughing their heads off) but everyone has their own opinion. The hotel is like all other hotels in Tunisia but this one probably more so strict on security which is very good.
I would return to this hotel but not between end of October and April because of the rooms being away from main hotel, I don't like walking to the main hotel / restaurant with a coat on whilst on holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel, but maybe not to those with children, there is a kids club and playground but there is nothing for children to do during the evening, no children's entertainment nor game machines (although there are board games in the bar).
