“I'm fussy but I'd go back to this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

I booked this hotel on the recommendation of my Tunisian boyfriend and read the reviews AFTER I'd booked. I was then so concerned I nearly changed hotels but I'm so pleased I didn't.
We were only B&B so I can't comment on the evening meals but breakfast was absolutely fine (though I've had better in terms of choice).
The place was clean and the majority of the staff extremely pleasant and helpful.
A drawback to some British visitors may be that there are very few UK people in the hotel. So if travelling alone you will need your books / music. I didn't feel comfortable venturing out on my own (whilst boyfriend at work) even during the day as there are predators who can be hard to shake off - you just need to be firm! I also got unwanted attention in the hotel itself whilst on my own.
The hotel is right by the beach and Sousse has lots of cafes / restaurants. We ate out every night and our meals usually cost around £7 for both of us. Some great food!
I plan to return.

“Do yourself a favour and find somewhere better”

There must be something positive to say...the hotel is relatively cheap for a Tunisian four star (whether it merits the four stars is another question) and SOME of the front desk staff are friendly. However even getting to the cashier to take my money at check in seemed like too much of an effort. The comings and goings in the lobby bar are amusing to a point. Apart from that....dated dusty shabby rooms, I'm sure the bottom sheet on the bed had been used by another couple, staff greedy for tips, airconditioning just seemed to stop working on last night. Breakfast buffet particularly bad - nothing remotely appetising apart from fried eggs and factory bread - I went instead to a nice cafe in the alley across the street in front; dinner a bit better but soon well combed over for protein by the northern/eastern European package tour crowd. Of all the hotels in Sousse, why Lonely Planet bothers to list it at all is a mystery to me.

“Don't take the risk with your health!!”

Great staff on pool aqua exercise and swimming I really couldn't fault them. Some of the reception were pleasant and the cleaner worked hard. However the food was unspeakable where do I begin lets begin with the technique which is putting old food in the fridge; which should have been disguarded and serving it again the next night and the night after that etc. To ineffectively hide this fact, then put a layer on the top of fresh food but not a very big layer as it would make it too obvious. In fact it is obvious! It is also insulting and revolting. Then there are fish that appear that don't look too fresh when they make their first appearance but rest assured a guest will get to know them quite well as they become soup and casseroles and curries. I will not labour the point but it is a real shame as the hotel is in a great location.

“Not a Palace”

If you live in an eastern european state rented tower block & like boiled cabbage for breakfast then you might like the place. To be honest if some money was spent on rooms and the staff more motivated it could be OK.
Food awful, worst we have ever had & 80% of the time you have to hassle the waiter to get your change back.
You have to pay £1 each time to sit on a chair around "your own" pool or beach.
Street sellers very agressive & even threaten you which was a first.
Don't go there you have been warned.

“APPALLING HOTEL - DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Theives broke into my room after 3hours of me checking in....very first day.

Cash, camera and other items stolen.

Staff did nothing. Manager did nothing, police took half a day to write up my statement.

Hotel is a complete dive and not safe. Whilst having to stay there for a further night, my fiancee and I noticed that prostitutes used the hotel with local men.

I demanded to be moved hotels and did so, we moved to Rhiad Palm hotel in Sousse which was fantastic. A proper hotel with proper facilities and very safe for families, couples and friends.

You need your head examining if you stay at Sousse Palace and by reading this, you have now been warned!!!
