Do not expect a lot of amenities in the Cecil Hotel. But there, sure, you will feel like you were an antiquities explorer or an ancient sovereign or Agatha Christie, in every detail of this old but elegant and perfectly localized hotel. My room there was spacious and had a balcony on the bay. I stayed there during the first days of demonstrations against Mubarak Government. There were gas bombs, riots destroying everything and police repression on the streets in front of it, but inside all employees made their best to me and my friend to feel safe and calm. Their service was perfect: they looked for information, for transportation out the town and offered a room - after checkout - for us to wait things come calm.

Stayed here recently for a couple of nights on a package and it was really nice. Had a lovely spacious room on the top overlooking the square but the excellent double glazing kept ALL the noise out. Absolutely no problems in the room. Food was excellent and the service was discreet. You have to see the lifts! Poirot could step out at any minute.

The hotel offers great suits and nice rooms, with very nice sea view.
Food is generally good as well, with an Asian restaurant at the top floor.

Amazing location, wonderful view from room, anique elevator an over all exiting place to live. The only problem is very poor internet and very ordinary food. An over all enjoying experience. Bathroom was very bad. Shower is almose choked up, stepping at the entry of bath is a risk of toggling in the night.
