“check the different deals carefully!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Clean hotel, next to the sheraton so used their travel services. Opposite a park which I think housed the Hilton. All in all a fairly good hotel, good service at the front desk, very helpful. Went for a massage in their health spa thing which was ok, English was a bit of an issue though if you deviated from the standard stuff. Very reasonable prices on massage 175 Egyptian Pound for an hour and the jacuzzi/sauna free which were hardly used. Didn't need to book. Myself and a friend booked a double room which upon finding a double bed was very quicky changed no problem to singles in the early hours when we arrived.
All the restaurants in the hotel were closed the whole time we were there (3 days) and the room service menu was very poor, Chilli's (the american chain) was right next door which we used one night at 10pm as the road were like a car park (it was Eid when we went)
I didn't know what to expect from the breakfast but cold mashed potato and what looked like refried beans and other random things were not what I envisioned; they did however have a good range of croissants including the chocolate type so if you fancy that and a coffee/tea no problem.
We were very happy with the hotel BUT we arrived as 2 females and a male who was obviously staying in a different room. Our stay cost (english) £75 for the girls each for 3 nights and his cost £85 per night because he booked on a different website. Check the different deals very carefully! If I had paid the price he had I would not have been very happy.
It was very noisy when we were there with car horns all night but I think you would get the same in a more expensive hotel anyway, I'll save the money I saved for another holiday!

Room Tip: Cheap and cheerful but clean. The tourist bits are on the other side of town. They have a tourist...

“old hotel with very few positives”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Ok, I thought about weather to give this hotel 2 or 3 stars the only positive points about this hotel are the general manager and the price ( which was the cheapest in Alexandria at $60 per night)
Check in:
we arrived at check in and were given the worst possible rooms in the hotel no view at all and were very old. I tried to change the rooms and the front desk manager ALI refused and was honestly the RUDEST person i have ever met at a hotel in my life. Seriously ! the first thing this hotel needs to do hire people with some manners and customer service skills. We were treated extremely bad to the point i just could not talk to him anymore and asked for the general manager. I can see this being very intimidating especially to non-arabic speaking tourists at this hotel. After I asked for the general manager, Ali challenged me that the general manager was gonna be the same and will not help me get better rooms.

When the general manager arrived, he was very nice and polite and we told him how horrible our room was. He said we will try to sort things out. I saw him talking to ALI who kept telling him that he DOES NOT have any nice rooms at all (LYING). after about 5 minutes of discussion, ALI finally admitted to the general manager that he has one room that was montazah view on the top floor. We got that one it was a superior room ! well supposedly

Our SUPERIOR room:
very large with Montazah view. thats about it ! disgusting bathroom, DISGUSTING furniture. Seriously I have stayed at many hostels before and could not find worse furniture. It had many water sport and it looked overall like an abandoned basement left for 100's of years.
To follow the flow of things we found a spider on the wall and we woke up with bug bites all over.
The hotel itself seems to have been nice when it first opened but it seems like there was no maintenance after that. The wall paint has turned yellow, the floors were dirty... TOWELS are not clean !.. they had an old style TV that was about 14 inches.. I could go on and on
Positives:
There are some positives about this hotel. Apart from the front desk manager, the service was nice and quick. When a water pipe exploded in our bathroom they called for a plumber fast enough to fix it
Also the location has a lot of potential, if this hotel is renovated, it may be much better
Breakfast:
I have had better. Buffet style that was not tasty at all but I had some danish pastry that was ok. The coffee tasted really bad
Overall:
This hotel is NOT 4 stars not 3 not 2 by western standards ! It is in really bad condition which is sad because it has prime location and view. My message to the owners is .Please spend some money on this hotel. You have many guests and charge more than many 4 star hotels in Sharm el sheikh and hurghada.. So please fix it up

Room Tip: generally you wont be able to choose due to rude manager

“Try it once, will never repeat”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

once we arrive we asked to replace the hotel because we ask different beds, they didn't do anything about it, so my wife and me pushed the single beds to attach to each other by ourselves, although the room was not having any view, but we enjoy the wideness, the food was tasting very bad, specially breakfast, taste ugly, they mention that if we need a clean towels, we had to drop it on the floor, other wise they will not replace it, two days later we wanted to change the towels, we drop it on the floor, when we back from our tour we find that they pick it up from the floor and folded to us again, same towels, i took the towels to the reception and all what they did is calling the room service manager and asked her to apologise to me, 100% bad experience with this hotel

Room Tip: very wide rooms

“My kind of hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

This is very well located hotel with beautiful views over Montazah Park and Palace, the Mediterreanan Sea and the city life and its old high rise flat buildings. I paid a very good rate and was happy with the exceptionally large room with balcony, airco, fridge, double bed, some seats, desk, TV and safe. What else would one want ? OK, the hotel is not the most stylish or contemporay but is very ok, especially the pool is big and very refreshing. As it was Ramadan, there were not many guests in the hotel so I had the pool for me alone. Staff are young but speak good English and always very firendly, housekeeping is excellent. There are some very minor details one could find disturbing but not for me. this was the ideal hotel for me and do not have any major complaints. Very big supermarket right next doors, as well as the Corniche. Breakfast was not to its standard as I was the only non-Muslim guest there I only got French fries, sausages and some vegetables so I went to the supermarket and made my fridge filled up. Good and fast wireless in reception area is a very plus.

“Helpful and friendly staff - relaxed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We had a conference here and the staff were very helpful and attentive. I didn't eat here but the snacks and drinks they served were of a good standard and everything was clean. I suppose it could be stated as 3 star by British standards but a great place to be and right next to Montaza gardens and the beach :D
