First I would like to mention that I'm a Belgian and that I apologize for any mistakes made during this resume. After 2 years of 'renting a house in France' kind of holiday, we were looking forward to another Club Med holiday. I've known the Club for more than 20 years and I must say: this was my most disappointing expercience. We travelled with a 3-year old boy and a 7-year old girl. We arrived after a flight with Royal Air Maroc. First minus: you can hardly say that this was more than a beast wagon. Dirty chairs, flight delayed and I won't even mention the stench. Thankfully the flight to Tanger wasn't fully booked so we had enough space for the 4 of us. Sylvie (Reception GO) was awaiting us at the airport and accompanied us to the Club. After a 2h drive we arrived and we were welcomed by approximately 20 GO's to show us the way to our bungalow. Considering the late hour this was a plus ! We booked a bungalow with beach view as our little one still needs to take a nap in the afternoon. Unfortunately we were to reside in the bungalows that were located in the far end of the club (Sahara area, 950's). And when I say far, I mean far ... A 15 minutes walk to have breakfast is OK, but better not forget suncream or towels ! The bungalows were spacious enough for the 4 of us but an enormous lack of comfort. This Club definately needs a large refresh: old-fashioned en basic. BTW: my husband thought he saw a cockroach running off as we entered the bungalow ... Luckily it was only a 1 time visit (we guess). The pool is indeed too small for the number of GO's. Other minus for us: the kids could not stand in the pool which forced us to go to the pool at the Mini-club. Kids thought it was fun, we didn't as we had to sit on 1 chair (only when the life guard was absent) and one small wooden table ... So far for holiday comfort ...
Indeed, we also felt like there was a lack of personnel. The tables and chairs were sticky, as well in the main restaurant as at the pool. Other minus: as we were located so far from all the activities we did not always have the courage (read: time) to use the lavatory in our room. 2 toilets per gender at the pool and idem at the main restaurant. You can imagine that this is very little for the number of GM's staying at the resort.
BIG PLUS: the beach is exceptionally nice, fine sand and slightly going down. For the kidsas well as for us: great !
I can truly say that having experienced quite some villages at Club Med together with my parents as a kid and as a teenager, this holiday was a disappointment. For the price we paid, I'm sure we could have had a 5 star hotel.
And what bothered us even most was the attitude of 70% of the GM's. I've read other reviews and I must say: local staff was extremely helpfull and friendly. But I guess that when you treat a person like [---], they might as well treat you the same way ! I heard one of the GM's say to the waiter at the fresh yoghurt counter: 'Sir, there are no more plates for the yoghurt. So now what, we have to put it in our hands or what ?' Very respectfull I must say ... I still regret not having answered the lady in question ! I think that a lot of GO's (more specifically the French ones) need to learn some manners. They think that because they pay a lot of money (because yes: it is a large amount of money to have a Club Med holiday), they can do and behave however they can.
The food was very repetitive: mashed potatoes, salad, tomatoes, pizza, hamburgers and chicken. Eric (at the Pasta counter) however made delicious pasta at lunch and for dinner. And the fresh orange juice at breakfast was also excellent !
The 'Chef de village' Bachir was very present during our stay, as well as Marco (GO responsable Animation). We did not encounter any problems with any of the GO's.
I must honnestly say that we will not rebook this Club as its price-quality is not outbalanced at all. A real shame as the setting is very beautiful !!!
