I am from Constanta, so I never needed to stay at a hotel in the town or in Mamaia, but when this opportunity came to go there together with my husbands' family I had higher expectations from a 3*** Hotel. I was hoping they will be able to enjoy and leave with a good impression of my city and the people living there. The reception did not look very professional, not able to offer many info, not very willing to help. The room had a bad smell form the old carpet, and even with the efforts of the staff to clean every day, there was not much improvement. It was said that the rooms are fully renovated but we could not see any visible improvement - old carpet, old drapes, the shower was problematic, as due to the fact there was a cloth curtain, water was all over the bathroom floor and was even reaching under the carpet. The wooden windows and the balcony they showed the suffering they endure during the cold winds of winter. The surrounding, especially on the lake side, was not taken care of (dry grass, old constructions in ruins, dangerous parking lot - some old cement pillars, and some roof of pillars). The restaurant had a terrible band - they were singing some gypsy music called - manele - a major fail - the reason why there were almost no people at the hotel's restaurant and on the terrace. I would say to resume that they do not know how to take fully advantage of the location, as the area is a good one, the lake is just gorgeous at the sunset, the beach is close. We were just lucky to have good weather and a very clean and warm sea. I would sincerely recommend for all the managers of these hotels, not to be only set on the income, but to see also to their clients satisfaction. Try and look on the touristic market and compare the services / quality / prices, try to really make a business and make people want to come back.
