The Royal Hotel is not suitable accomodation because: -

1) Climate control is ineffective: - the air conditioning units in the rooms recirculate air in the rooms and do not provide nearly enough cooling

2) The hotel doesn't appear to have a working central ventilation system: - the result is that the temperature, (on a day when the outside temperature was 21°c with low humidity), we had approximately 28°c in the 5th floor corridors and rooms, high humidity and stagnant air.

3) No Lighting control available in the rooms. The curtains in the rooms are very thin, (just slightly more opaque than the lace curtains behind them), this there not way to shut out daylight: - so you are going to wake up at sunrise.

4) It's a taxi drive to anywhere nice

Staff were helpful, (it is not their fault).

My Advise: pay a bit more and choose one of the better hotels in Constanta. We had to report unfit for duty the next day due to lack of rest.

Just turned back from a weekend holiday to this hotel. Actually, it is 3 stars rank hotel, I honestly wonder if it deserve them these too
<> the furniture looks almost new
<> the heat was off and only one extra blanket available, so it was really cold
<> no hair shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom, we had to buy it from the shop near by
<> not enough soap, just use max 3 time and it runs out...
<> only towels for one person instead of too
<> we booked a sigle room and paid extra as double (is not viceversa, the single rooms are always more expensive?)
<> the breakfast was a disaster, extremely low choices and horrible coffee
<> the personnel have no idea of informing the clients regarding useful information they would need

We stayed in Constanta only 1 night. The hotel was clean and comfortable, but the location was not great (it was not near the historical area or the Black Sea beach area). The restaurant was in the basement, and was extremely warm and stuffy (to the point of being uncomfortable). I would suggest that people choose a hotel (there are many) on the Black Sea or near the old city area.
