“Little value for money”

The resort is reached by boat along one of the channels of the Danube. The villas look great from the outside, but the one we stayed in had an old, musty smell, the sheets were too small for the bed, there was one small blanket that barely covered my husband and me, and the stall shower had no curtain, so the water splashed all over the bathroom. At the (very nice) pool, there were signs all over the place pointing to a snack bar, but when we got there, it was closed and seemed to be totally unused. The only place to buy drinks was next to the hotel lobby, and there was no place to buy snacks. Dinner was not included in the price of the hotel, and the food was bad. But since the only way to get there was by boat, we had no choice. Despite the high price we paid for the hotel, we were charged 5 lei (about $1.30) per hour to use the hotel backgammon set. And most insulting, when we checked out, we were charged another 5 lei for a "missing glass". (There were supposed to be four in the villa, but when we arrived there were only three, and they didn't believe us.) While not terrible, it's not a place I'd go back to or recommend to friends.

“Waste Disposal in the Natural Reserve Area”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2009

Good: area, small houses look nice from outside (we have been in the main hotel, so don't know how good / bad those houses are from inside)

Bad: you can only go there by boat, which they charge you extra, services (including boat) and food cost a multiple of the normal price in this area, but you do not have any option as the hotel is on the island. The boat driver even calls the reception before you leave to check if you have paid everything, seems that it regularly happens that unhappy guests leave and don't want to pay. Personnel is unfriendly, problems with water in bathroom, terrible shower in ALL aspects (temperature, water pressure, protection, general construction), smell in rooms, you must not throw paper into the toilet (especially bad as they don't clean the room so often). And worst: the hotel disposes / burns the waste in the danube delta on a hidden place just 200 meters behind the hotel. And such a hotel is producing a lot of waste!! This is a natural reserve and they advertise with the nature! Stay away, absolute no-go!

“Poor service, substandard food, tired rooms in a stunning location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2009

Our party stayed at this resort after reviewing the website www.cormoran.ro
The hotel is reached via boat - pleasant enough and the hotel looks well established. The interior is shabby with stark restaurant and bedrooms have bare tiled floors with bathrooms which need complete refurbishment. Our son's bathroom smelled really bad and the shower attachments did not work. The food at this hotel (you don't have any other choice as you are on an island) is diabolical. Cold french fries, overcooked fish, saline steak and chicken and vegetables which may once have been fresh but not once they have been boiled and reheated. Breakfast included cheese with dog hairs and stale cake. Surly reception staff and overpriced boat trips. Our boat was captained by a guy worse the wear for drink! Not a pleasant experience and one not to be repeated. It could be so much better! Didn't get a look at the little thatched apartments but the food experience would put anyone off!

“Very Good Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2009

We went to Delta Dunarii, one of the most touristic places in Romania, and I was happily surprissed by this resort. Cormoran Resort is located on such a beautiful land, they do a very good job keeping the instalations in excellent conditions. We had a big 2 story house, with air conditioning (which is not very common in that area), with screen net on the windows, our bed was a real king size bed (not 2 twins together, as is common in EU), everything looks nice a clean. We enjoyed the swimming pool, the breakfast buffet, and the tours on boat to visit the area, their food is romanian and it was fine. They'll take care of everything for you (arrangements for delta tours by boat), the price is not cheap, in fact, it's higher compares to romanian standards, but you are not getting romanian standrards here either, you are getting EU standards. They are doing a good job! - They have two diferents kind of instalations, the new ones and the old ones, we stayed at the new ones. We stayed here with our 8 yo, and my in-laws who camed form the States to visit us. That's why we decided to have something really good not matter the price. They loved the place, a lots of room for everybody.
