“Mixed feelings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I have stayed in Hotel Aro Palace for 2 nights. The hotel has a very nice, central location but do not expect too much from it. First of all, the building - looks much older than on the pictures.
The rooms were spacious, with good views. The heating in my room didn't work, it took me a couple of phone calls and visits from the hotel staff to sort it out.
The hotel doesn't offer dry cleaning services during the weekend. At least officially. Even so, after we have asked them several times where we could clean the clothes, they have done in in-house, in a couple of hours.
The lobby of the hotel is huge, but very cold. So is the breakfast room.
I know there is a spa in the hotel but i didn't visit it.
On Sunday, housekeeping came at 8 am to clean the room.

Generally speaking, it was a nice hotel, but not a 5 star. And most importantly, the service was not a 5*.
Still, nice location and nice rooms.

“Not Bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I was told that this is one of best 5 stars hotel in the area. I would rate it a 3 stars in other major city, but this is Brasov! I like the location. It is with easy walking distant to all the major attractions which we want to visit and there are many good restaurants near by. The room was clean and have a very nice view of town and the surrounding hills. Staff were not very help when you try to get some advices and direction.Breakfast was OK. All in all I am happy with the accommodation.

“Really nice hotel in a great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Very nice rooms situated right in the historic old town area, five minutes walk from the main square. It looks like all rooms have a small balcony. Each room had a marvelous view. All our rooms had a raised sitting area and were well furnished. You must call room service for ice and it is promptly delivered. Only some rooms have safes, ask for one if you need it.
The bath has a tub/shower in the European style, but the half glass door with no sweep means there will be lots of water on your tile floor. Lighted shaving mirror and hair dryer, but the kind you have to hold down the button to use. Heavy robes and paper slippers are provided.
The A/C worked well and the rooms were quiet. We did not try the spa while we were there but it looked nice. Pleasant helpful staff, great lobby, food in the restaurant was good. For the middle of Romania this was an unexpected pleasant surprise.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view or a park view, higher is better.

“Decadent appearence and definitevely not a 5*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

When we arrived to Brasov our tour guide told us that we will enjoy a 5* hotel, bit old but 5*. It is well located, just some minutes away from the centre.

Once you are close to the hotel you can imagine yourself to be in a yellowish old prison, a heritage from the old days in Romania. Fortunately inside was not the same. As said, Ceaucescu time design in and out with rude staff that sent us to the post office when we tried to send a postcard from the front desk. As you can deduce: what you can expect from a 5*

Rooms are really spacious with carpet in the floor. The bed is big and again with really low pillows. Even if there was a wedding dinner in the lobby it was quite and we had good quality sleep.

The bath is quite modern, no ammenities except soap but clean.

Views are nice from the front hotel, where you can see the sunset and the indoor pool.

Breakfast: no fresh juices nor great fresh fruit options, not enough variety if you are not saussages and scrambled eggs with bacon lover.

We had dinner at the hotel, included in the tour, and it was a really disappointing. If we had known it in advance we would have gone to any place in the city centre where we had food before and it was reasonably good.

“Decent hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

This was a good hotel, advertised to us as 3/4 star which is about right. There was a decent shower and we were pleased to spot a safe until we realised that it didn't work. We were only staying one night and went out almost as soon as we arrived, so it wasn't worth trying to get it fixed. The wooden balcony was only wide enough to walk along (no seating), but it did provide us with amazing views of the town and surrounding countryside. The furnture was all good quality and it was nicely finished.
The breakfast was fine, if a little limited in choice. The eggs were nice and fresh for a buffet.
There was no wi-fi or aircon.
The location is good, being very close to the main square with lots of restaurants.
