we went there last year- a group of 6 youngsters. we liked it a lot, it was more than we expected. the rooms were clean and nice, modern furniture. we didn't use the air con because we went in september and the weather was cilly so we didn't need it but anyway, you had to pay 20 euros to be given the remote control, money that you would receive back at departure.
the hotel was full with germans and the staff was german speakers, poor english speakers but we managed to get along just fine.
the food was all right but not very varied. you could go to the other prima sol hotels to eat if you want .
if you wanted to take a nap in the afternoon, forget about it. there was the kid's entertainment team that was singing, laughing and dancing by the pool so if your room has see view ( great by the way)- forger about a quiet afternoon.
the trip to the beach is a challenge! you can get up early in the morning and take the shuttle bus for free but we never made it so we had to take a 10 min walk through a dirty shortcut.
all in all it was a very nice experience. i would go back anytime. the hotel and the resort were very nice but the public surroundings of the hotels very, very dirty

Large party of us aged from 6 to 45 visited this hotel. We HATED it!!
In a nutshell, if you arent German you can forget any kind of service
with a smile. I always look for a hotel that provides a kids club as I have 2 young sons. This however was to prove fruitless as the staff
of the kids club didnt speak English! When my kids went to sign up the kids club (or should that be Kinder club) staff spoke to them in German, when my eldest son said that they were English the fella shrugged his shoulders! All the entertainment was in german which meant that we had to go elsewhere every night. Not much point in paying for the all inclusive option then was there?

The food was abysmal. Cold, undercooked and aimed at the Germans. I love to try other foods but I draw the line at pink chicken, pickled fish and garlic for breakfast. My request for a bowl of cornflakes resulted in a dirty look that would have felled a horse.

All in all Id go back to Golden Sands tomorrow. Lovely place, cheap, clean and loads to do (even though its crawling with prostitutes who will feel your man up in front of your eyes and then invite you to watch!). But I would have to be dragged back to the Excelsior kicking
and screaming!

i have stayed at the Excelsior for 3 days, from the 2nd to the 4th of june. the rooms are nicely decorated, large, the hotel staff polite and the view from the balcony gorgeous. the hotel is part of a group, Primasol resorts, and shares with the sister hotel across the street, Sunrise, the pool and other facilities. the swimming pools are very clean, large and in the all inclusive system, the umbrellas and the pool chairs are free of charge. one has to pay a small deposit for the towels for the pool and the remote control for the AC. the food was ok, but if one stayes for more than 3 days there, one can easily get bored with it, as they don't really change the menu too much. due to the fact that it is situated 350m from the beach and on a hill, the surroundings are pretty quiet. Golden Sands offers a lot of terraces and places to eat, shops with local souvenirs and cheap, but not very qualitative clothes. it is a great destination for a relaxing holiday, even with kids. i would stay at this hotel again, if on a budget and in search of a decent hotel.
