This is a hotel + restaurant. The hotel itself is small and pleasantly decorated. There are a few different color themes for the rooms, dark blue and gold and light blue. The bathrooms are great and have bidets. The TVs aren't new and aren't western sized but it really has beautifully decorated rooms so bring your camera. The hotel part of this place isn't the important part, it's just a clean quality hotel in Varna. The restaurant/lobby is the big part. It's where you can go when you want a business meeting, a relaxing lunch, a fantastic dinner, a place to chill and watch some tv.. it's a breath of fresh air from being in Varna.
I've eaten here over 50 times I think. On average my bills are between 35 and 200 leva. It all depends on how many people I'm eating with and what we're having. You can grab a meal for 9 leva or for 50 leva. It's your choice.
Since it changed hands in 2011 and became the Grand Hotel London again I don't bring people here for dinner anymore because they stopped doing the part of the services I came for. I do bring people for the odd lunch or drinks though.
When you dine here, you dine with silver eating implements and you get white glove service. You'll see the odd Bulgarian celebrity while you're dining but you won't know it. One thing I liked about dining here was the atmosphere. It was quiet and I knew I wasn't going to be surrounded by people I don't enjoy. It's considered very expensive by Bulgarian standards so most people are too scared to even enter the venue.
The lobby has a different menu than the upstairs dining room. The menus have greatly improved over the last year but they no longer let you order dining room items from the lobby. That's ok because the lobby has a decent selection. You can order quite a few dishes which have food science behind them from either menu so if you like fancy something tasty and beautiful you'll be happy.
They no longer have french fries on the menu but if they're not busy and the chef is happy then he'll make some for you. You can' bet on that though.
It's common to see people only coming here for tea because they give a pot of tea with honey and free cookies. It's a good deal for those who want a taste of the rich life but can't afford individual drinks or snacks.
