Arriving in Varna we drove around calling at hotels to check condition prices etc. We discovered the Antik Hotel down a relatively quiet side street and after viewing a room and obtaining a very good price we stayed for 2 nights. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and would return again. The owner, who was also the barman etc, stayed on the premises at night and was friendly and efficient. The hotel was small -10 rooms, clean and our room was cleaned each day. On the negative side, although the decor was good there were odd things that stood out. The wallpaper - very nice - but crinkled in places. The carpet - good and clean, but not trimmed where it met the walls! Now these things did not bother us as the hotel and rooms were clean, but if anyone was fussy they may be affected by this lack of attention. The hotel was quiet at night as was the street, however we were there in mid October so less tourists. The centre of Varna was a 5 min walk and the pedestrian area was full of shops, restaurants etc. so the hotel is in a very good position. Parking in Varna can be a nightmare and the hotel only has 2 reserved parking spaces at 10lev a day. Breakfast was an extra 5lev but we opted to go to one of the many nearby restaurants.
So to summarise - a good hotel, ignore the lack of finishing touches - friendly owner, good position and good price(negotiated).
