I went on a business trip to Ukraine in July 2011. I was in Lviv and stayed in the four star Swiss Hotel located on Knyazya Romana Street. Although I only spent one night (13th July2011) at the hotel, I was extremely impressed by the hotel, its facilities and its staff.
The hotel is well located and within walking distance to the centre of the city (Market Square is about a 7 minute walk away); Hlyniany Gate; Bernardine Church; Potocki Palace etc. Lviv has some very beautiful buildings. The architecture is a wonderful mix of the old and the new.
Swiss Hotel is a beautiful boutique style hotel with 18 rooms. After I checked in, I was taken by the hotel’s duty manager, Natalya, to my room – very appropriately numbered 1 – a superior deluxe bedroom. The room was spacious and had all the mod cons that you would expect to find like air conditioner, mini bar, telephone, free internet, satellite television, safe, etc.
The room was very tastefully decorated with modern warm colours that made it stylish and gave it a very cosy feel. The double bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was bigger than I expected. There were lovely soft and fluffy bathrobes and slippers for your use.
The hotel also has a Roman steam bath – but I did not have time to use it. Nor did I eat at the Italian restaurant Valentino – which I understand has delicious Italian and Ukrainian cuisine and caters for vegetarians too.
In the morning, I went down for breakfast. (The room rate includes breakfast). There was a buffet breakfast that had a mixture of hot and cold items. There was plenty of variety on offer and there was something for everyone. I loved the freshly made chocolate croissants.
The staff members were very friendly, cheerful and polite. The receptionist Natalie was very efficient. Although she had been on night duty – she looked as fresh as a daisy in the morning. The concierge Oleg was very helpful. All the staff members spoke good English.
There is a visitor’s book located by the entrance of the hotel for your comments.
My visit was very short and I wish that I could have spent another night or two in this fantastic, impressive and beautiful hotel. But I hope to return to Lviv for a holiday with my family and stay at the Swiss Hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lviv.
