"Soviet-trained" staff - plain unfriendly

"fitness & wellness area" is not actually in the hotel, but a 15 minute walk away
Breakfast was "poor" at best
Room reserved was a junior suite, turns out it is a medium-sized room - I complained, but the soviet staff responded "this IS the junior stuite", other room are even smaller, tough luck mister.
Price was WAY too much for what you get

It seems that this must have changed since some of the 2009 reviews because we found it to be high quality ,friendly staff and brilliant location

Previous comments about staff needing training in the west made me chuckle because in France and Spain you woud never get the cheery helpful service we encountered

Rooms were good clean and quiet; Breakfast was more than adequate ;when we arrived early morning but not checking in until later we were directed to a traditional Ukraine cuisine, sort of fast food where eggs bread and coffee were under £2; no complaints at all

While this hotel has an official rating of 4-stars, in Lviv it is one of few places that has high standards of a 5-star hotel. Check-in was easy and flawless, with receptionists giving some tips as to where to eat out and what to see. The room was spacious and clean. Do ask for a room facing the main street. It may be occasional loud during the day, but the view is magnificent. The breakfast was ample, so to thoroughly enjoy it one should devote an hour or so. The location is very central, perhaps the most central one can imagine. Getting to/from the airport is easy: a mere 20-minute cab ride. BUT: do order the taxi beforehand via one of the companies (I used Sofia Taxi). Otherwise unsolicited taxi drives will charge you 3-4 times of the regular price.

Smack in the middle of town, you can't find a better location. Lobby and common areas take you back in time with wonderful paintings, reliefs, and stained glass windows. Excellent multi-lingual service with a smile. Rooms are tastefully done although the furniture/TV has seen better days, but all is very clean and in working order. Breakfast doesn't change but there is enough variety to so you can change it up as you see fit. Fitness centre is a 5 minute walk away and has a real gym/pool. Overall a great experience!
