When we first arrived at this hotel, we wondered how we were going to stay there for the next week. We don't speak Ukrainian so the language barrier with staff was the first problem. The only person that spoke English was the woman who checked us in. The decor was very old, the room wasn't as big as it looked in the photos and it had a very drab feeling to it. As the days went by it grew on us and we got to like it. As others say, it is a good hotel for Ukraine standards but it will be a shock to the system coming from anywhere else.
If you don't speak Ukrainian, organise a transfer with the hotel before you get there. Getting through customs to see a big sign with our name on it was such a releif and I don't know how we would have got anywhere without having organised that.
Also have some small demoniations of Ukrainian money on you as if you don't tip the bell boy, you will get very dirty looks.
The breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired; stale bread and a very small selection.
The restaurant for lunch or dinner was a different story; very good food that we thoroughly enjoyed at a suprisingly good price; my husband had 2 beers and a rabbit dish for $8 AUS.
Unfortunately I forgot to take photos inside the hotel.
