I chose Sibenik for a one night-stay en route from Dubrovnik to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. It just happened to be a convenient stop-over. It also provided the chance to visit the Krka National Park. This, by the way, is nowhere near as beautiful as Plitvice; Plitvice is a "must see" - Krka is swarming with people, and when we were there in July it was a heaving mass of humanity, with hundreds swimming in the water at the base of the falls. At Plitvice, there are also many visitors, but the layout and organization means that you can find the places and moments of solitude. The Jadran was hot and noisy - probably the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in many! Even allowing for the fact that it lacks a/c, it needs updating. It is in a pleasant location on the waterfront, but the road in front of the hotel is used as a drag-racing strip by the local teenagers well into the "wee small hours." One night was more than enough. But do go to Plitvice and stay at the Jezero - a beautiful national park and a good hotel.
