I had been impressed that I'd found such a good location and that my booking via the hotel's website was rapidly answered, with no request for a credit card, and a helpful reply to my warning of our late arrival.
Off-putting first impressions, with a scruffy reception area and distinct lack of warmth in the welcome (it reminded me of those scary air cabin attendants in the old days of Jugoslav Airlines who had obviously attended the Josef Tito school of customer care!). No surprises here, as TA posts said the place wasn't luxurious.
The rooms, while small, unstylish, without balconies and lacking views from the window, were perfectly adequate, very very clean, and at the quivalent of 50 Euros per nite off season, really cheap compared with everything else we'd found on the web. They seem to have been designed for the students who throng the bars in this university area, as they had more storage- built in wardrobes, bookcases and desks - than you'll need for a short stay.
While you wouldn't want to stay too long here, and while I guess that as they lack aircon, they'd be very warm in summer, the location is really great. In a scruffy residential alley right in the heart of the historic old town on the peninsula where all the bars and restaurants are, so a really lively atmosphere and no bus or taxis needed.
And best of all, a few minutes from the ferries to the islands where you'll fine great quality and value in the many apartments- so overall- go for it for a night or two.
