I was after a hostel in Zadar and as there are only two and the other more central one wasnt available I had no choice but to try this one. I had read the reviews online and they were very average so was bit wary... in the end after catching the no 5 bus out there - took about 10 minutes by bus arrived and was not impressed. The buildings are very old and look run down. The guy at reception wasnt the friendliest of people and wasnt very knowledgeable about things to do in the area or pretty much anything really...
I was put into a 2 bed room but was by myself so that was good. The room however had a very musty old smell and would have been very poky even with only two people... the bathrooms were right next door and very ok clean wise... walls were very thin however as could hear people coming and going all the time. However the thing that I disliked the most was that the door locked just. The lock felt like it could have come free with a bit of effort, and I know i could have asked for another room but in the end didnt want to go back to the guy at reception so ending up putting my chair and backpack up against the door as a barricade! silly huh! anyway overall i was originally going to stay in Zadar 2 nights but ended up heading to Split a day earlier as wasnt impressed with the city or hostel... oh and breakfast was bread (not toast) and some weird hot chocolate drink...

Rooms way too hot.......mosquitos ate me alive....no screens in room.......banging doors all night......light comes into room from hall.....way too far from city.....bathroom and showers not up to scratch...nothing to do in hostel.....All in all...stay here if you like torture..otherwise forget it

Location wise its not the nearest to the centre of town. Its a good 10-15 min bus ride out of town although the buses are quite frequent. The No 5 or 8 go pretty much to the door. The bus drivers know where it is and seem very nice.
The staff were very friendly so that was good. We had booked a 4bed dorm but were put in a 6bed dorm. But as it happened there was no one else booked in that night so we had the room to ourselves. The room was clean and big and the shared bathroom was fine. It was not busy when we were there but Id say it could get busy in peak season as there were only 3 showers between everyone.
The hostel is beside a nice marina with a couple of bars. Not going out bars though. More sit and watch the world go by. There is also a beach opposite the hostel which looked nice. We only stayed one night so cant comment on the atmosphere around the hostel as we were shattered and went to bed!
The thing I liked least about the hostel was the situation with the keys to the room. There was only 1 key in total for our 6bed dorm so you were dependent on people returning the key to reception and not locking the door from the inside. As I said we were in the room on our own so it didnt really effect us but I didnt feel entirely happy about leaving all my stuff in a room that could potentially be left unlocked.
If I had to then I would stay here again but I would probably look for another option given the location. I would recommend it but only as a passing through location

If you only want to sleep there its Ok. But if you want some more extravagance ist not the right place for you. The bathrooms are a little bit dirty. Tip: take some flip flops with you. The Personal is friendly. If you want to go to the beach (stony) you only have to walk for 10 min.
The Hotel costs 17 € for one night.
To sum up: only for sleeping. There is no Bar, Music, Television or something else.
