“An excellent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

We only stayed at Villa Valentina one day, but the experience was a good one.

The receptionist (Anna) was very helpful and an excellent source of information (although she underestimated the walking time to the town centre).

The room was neat and tidy, and the breakfast was very ggod.

The old town of Zadar is well worth a visit (I recommend that you catch a bus).

Minor niggle - the wi-fi didn't quite make it to the room, with the signal dropping out just as you crossed the threshold of our second floor apartment, but.....hehe - you could still sit in the restaurant as I did and it worked fine there

Room Tip: If in room wi-fi is important, ask carefully about whether the signal will reach your room

“funny, friendly, warm & pleasant surrounding”

We really liked our stay in this B&B, even if it was for just one night. It started with the fact that we booked wrong and arrived one day earlier as expected. All the apartments where fully booked but there was one spare apartment “in case of emergencies” that was offered to us. As it didn’t have a balcony (and all the other apartments have) they normally don’t rent it. We were happy to take it and we were not charged for the other day. The welcome was really friendly and warm, we felled home immediately. We received good information about how we could reach the old town (by car, foot, bus, taxi), what was there to see, which excursions are available. The room itself was very correct, clean and had airco. WiFi is free and there is a free private car parking available at the house. Breakfast was included in our room price. The B&B is located outside the old town. A short walk (3-5 minutes) from the B&B you had a bus stop, going for the city center (about +/- 10 minutes). The daily operations are run by two young, funny and friendly women. We can surely advise these apartments! It’s a very pleasant, helpful, funny, friendly and warm surrounding to stay.

“A little bit of magic in Zadar!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

We were greeted by the vivacious and welcoming Anna. She was endlessly helpful, funny, and accommodating. The hotel itself, although not in the most picturesque of locations, was full of character and charm, yet still remained distictly modern. The room was enormous and had an another adjoining double room connected to it by a door. Ensuite bathroom, AC, television, free Wi-fi (although the signal was weak from our room), mosquito plugs, balcony, fridge, and hob. Everything was sparkling clean and the room was beautiful.
A continental breakfast was included and this consisted of boiled eggs, cereals, meats, cheese, biscuits, fruit, yoghurt, bread, tea, coffee, and juice. This was a perfect breakfast for me, although I think my fiance would have preferred a full cooked selection to have been included. The other staff at the hotel were also extremely polite, friendly and helpful.
Location-wise, the hotel was not central but we had a car so it was not an issue. There was also a nice restaurant at the end of the road which was useful for those who didn't want to travel bakc into the town of an evening.
Overall this was the highlight of our holiday in terms of accommodation. It was a shame we only stayed one night but would definitely go back again!

“Excellent well run hotel in Zadar (but a bit out of town)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

My partner and I stayed at Villa Valentina in April 2011 for two nights. We flew into Zadar as the start of our trip in Croatia and booked based on the recommendations on TA.

Firstly, the location is actually quite hard to find. I got a GPS for my iPhone (HIGHLY recommended, £1.19 for a month’s licence of the full Croatia road system – PM me if you want the details). However when we finally admitted defeat we called Ana who came down the road and directed us to where we needed to go.

The hotel itself is located quite a bit out of the main town and there are no real tourist things to do / see in the immediate area BUT the upside is that there are no tourist things to do / see in the area .... I.e. restaurants are for locals so the quality of the food is very good and its a very quiet part of town (quite a bit back off the main road)

We got a “family” room which was accessible from the outside of the building and comprised of a balcony with furniture, a kitchen, lounge room with big screen TV, large bath room and separate bedroom out the back. We paid 80 euro per night for this which we thought was very good for what we got.

Ana, who runs the place was lovely. Only too happy to provide recommendations on where to go, what to see, how to get there etc etc. And very genuine help also, not “I am trying to keep up appearances” but very much what she loves to do and that shows in the house. She even gave us a free bottle of wine one night, hows that for service!!

Breakfast was the typical cold meats and fake orange Juice so not really anything to write home about, but not a bad way to start the day.

All in all Villa Valentina is an excellent choice for staying “off the beaten track” in Zadar and highly recommended.

“Anna Rogalo and her family run the best joint in Zadar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2011

Like everybody who has stayed here will attest, Anna is a gem. I stayed in Zadar for 3 nights, and she upgraded my family of wife and two pre-schoolers (ages 4 and 3) to an apartment since I was cheap and only booked a double room (children their age stay free with existing bedding, and we travel with their bed cots). The apartment was two double beds with a small kitchen area - more than enough room for the four of us, especially since we hardly spent any waking hours in the apartment. Zadar is awesome! As stated the Villa is in Borik, where a lot of the resorts are. The sites are centered in Old Zadar, but it's only about 800 meters to the bus stop, and the fare is 8 kuna (just a bit over 1 euro) per adult for 50 minutes of travel. You'll be downtown in no time (bus 5 or 8). The Villa is also about 1000? meters to the nearest beach. There is free parking for cars but only about 6 spots. The area is residential and looks nice and safe though, so there should be no worries about theft. The rooms have AC (which works brilliantly - 90F when I was there). I could not reach the free wi-fi from the apartment, but I was able to use somebody else's unprotected network - shh! I saw several people using it in the breakfast room on the bottom floor, so it might not reach all rooms. You also have access to a terrace with a view of the ocean. The bread/meat/cheese is served to you at the table, which is a nice change of pace from the typical European self-serve style. Her family (I think they all live on the premises?) always greeted us with smiles and even opened the doors for us when we came home late from sightseeing. I absolutely recommend Zadar as a city to visit and Villa Valentina as the place to stay at when in town.
