“OK but not cheap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

Stayed for a couple of nights en route to Venice. Hotel is nice and the owner is friendly. I agree with other reviews that it is on the expensive side but then I think that this is a general comment for hotels in Pula as I found them all to be quite pricey when looking for a place to stay. There is a restaurant at thehotel which has a great reputation and I had booked a table to eat there so was a little surprised to find that it had closed for the season when I arrived, especially as I had mentioned the restaurant booking the day before?! It is in a good position close to the port and old town.

“Very average... and over priced”

We were quite disappointed, the room was noisy and not very comfortable. We were glad to stay here for only one night.
Location is convenient though... especially if you want to visit the roman amphitheater.

“Very nice, friendly & comfortable”

I moved here last minute, after an uncomfortable night at the Hotel Riviera. They were extremely helpful and friendly, offering me a large double room for the price of a single.

The room was spacious and cool (a benefit with the mercury pushing 40) with a decent double bed. A couple of small minus points - the minibar fridge was missing, the TV and alarm clock were missing buttons.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were happy to explain the local bus routes, order taxis, etc. They were also happy to clean the room any time - allowing a much needed lie in!

I'd also strongly recommend visiting the family restaurant downstairs (also called Scaletta) - best food I had in Croatia.

“Friendly, staff, lovely buffet breakfast... but no chef!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed here on 30th May 2011. I was really keen to stay here as it was near the arena, bus station, sea etc and it was known to have a mighty fine restaurant. It wasn't cheap (about £75) but the staff were very friendly and helpful, even drawing us a map to guide us to where we needed to return our hire car....but it wasn't until after we moved in and came down to book a table for dinner that they told us the restaurant was shut as the chef had gone off to seek his fortune.... great! That said the room was lovely, the location was ideal, the buffet breakfast was great... they told us that they should be getting a new chef by 7th June... so if you go after then you may get a fabulous dinner too!

“good compromise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

The hotel is located beside the amphitheatre, but it is not the nicest neighbourhood because of the old buildings and casinos all around. However, it is a good start for the visit of Pula.
The staff was nice and spoke English and German. The room was small but nice and clean.
There is quite a lot of traffic from the early morning so light sleepers might find it too noisy.
The breakfast table was quickly empty and you need to ask for more.
It is difficult to find a parking place in the area.
