Hotel Galija is in a great location in the centre of Pula, and about a 10-15 mins walk from the amphitheatre.
The best thing about the hotel is the location. The rooms are fairly basic, although clean and with air conditioning.
My partner and I had a few problems with the hotel, although mostly to do with the staff than the actual hotel itself. The problems were as follows:
The breakfast was the same everyday, the coffee machine tempremental and the cold meats and cheese were all plated together, which meant that being vegetarian we couldn't eat the cheese.
The hairdryer was broken (we stayed in two rooms as we returned for the last night of our holiday, and this was the case in both rooms)
The staff were on the whole quite unhelpful and at times rude, one waitress was absolutely useless and ended up serving us sausage and chips even though we hadn’t even seen a menu, let alone ordered and expected us to eat it.
In one of the rooms, there was no remote for the air con
The cabinet for the passports was not locked, the door to the street open and most of the time the reception unmanned.
One asset of the hotel, is the pizza restaurant. After having to eat a lot of pizza in Croatia, due to being vegetarian, I can say that the Pizza’s here were the best we tasted, and there was a fantastic selection. The pizza was stone cooked. Even if you don’t stay here, I would recommend the pizzas. The pizza chef himself was extremely friendly and helpful!
Aside from the above problems, I would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a well located place to use as a base to explore Pula. If I was to return to Pula, I would consider staying there again.
