“Stuck in the 70s dirt pit with the rudest staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

We booked a late deal for August and having seen the photos of this so called 3* hotel, even though it was also slightly pricey we felt confident of our choice. However, we arrived 2 hours earlier than the check in time and we were greeted by an extremely rude, unfriendly and scruffy receptionist. We were given an initial room where we discovered 1970s veneered broken furniture, dirty bathroom with filthy carpets and a terrible view of a carpark. Having had to wait several hours for a change of room, our new one was marginally better but we had to ask at reception for a cleaner to vacuum the floor as remnents of the previous guests food were still there. The facilities in the hotel are not as detailed in the brochure. There are no room safes, you have to use a chargable metal cabinet at the front desk. There is NO AIRCONDITIONING as stipulated in the hotel info. When asked about this, apparently it is only available in the hotel corridors, but was faulty at the time. If you are half board, you fortunately get the opportunity to eat at the lovely sister hotel across the walkway, but at breakfast you must eat in The Palma Hotel where an arrid smell of old peoples homes floods out of the doors.
Be warned, there is also NO swimming pool attached to the hotel, but I guess fortunately in the nice sister hotel opposite. Also, beware of the other recpetionist called 'Eddie' who tries his best to shout aggressive words at you if you need to communicate with him. The hotel outside looks shabby to say the least, with peeling paint and leaking windows. It rained for one afternoon and the staff lined the inside of the windows with towels to try and stop the leaking down the interior walls. The area around the hotel however, is beautiful and the local towns are definately worth a visit.

“Probably the worst hotel I ever stayed at.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

This hotel is not just outdated, it also has not been cleaned since the 70's (Under the bed when I went to look for something on the floor there was popcorn, soda bottles, thick layer of dust). Wall to wall carpeting reaks of smoke and dust. Staff is not kind, and does not really speak english. Breakfast is mediocre at best. You have to park on the street, might be a walk from the hotel itself, and you cannot unload the bags outside the hotel entrance since it is not on the street. You will need to carry it around to the front.

Location is good for going to the beach, snorkeling stuff like that. But it is far away from Pula center. I think you can get better value for money in Pula.

“Find a better hotel for 120 Euros/night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

Hotel location is great, however if you arrive with the car you cannot unload at the entrance as it is not at the street. You have to carry you luggage upstairs. The view is nice. Parking is at the street.
Hotel DOES NOT HAVE A/C. During the summer, avoid staying in this hotel. It is boiling hot inside. Do not use elevator even if you are not claustrophobic. Rooms are outdated.

You will have an all you can eat breakfast at hotel Histria, the building across hotel Palma. The breakfast is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD IN ANY HOTEL so far. All kind of foods and fruits... If you can afford more money, stay in hotel Histria. It is more modern and it air-conditioned.
The beach is not maintained well. There is not an easy access to the blue sea. Rocks are slippery. They did not install ladders for easy access.
Topless sunbathing is acceptable.

“Nice place - but a few points to consider”

We had a nice clean room with great views of the Marina. The whole hotel could do with an upgrade though! Would NOT recommend doing half-board as the food and service in the restaurant are terrible. There is not alot of nightlife for younger people but Pula is a nice town and it's nice to have cocktails in the forum and I would highly recommend the restaurant La Scaletta near the ampitheatre.

Histria pool is nicer and quiter than the one at Punta Verudela.

Overall, it was a good value holiday and my fried and I enjoyed our week there.

  • Liked — The pool at Histria Hotel
  • Disliked — The mean people in the restaurant
