“The worst of Pula - without a doubt...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2010

Don't. Simply: do not go there. The rooms are reasonably clean, but have no heating in winter. Hotel staff advise you to heat the room with AC. Breakfast starts at 7:00, but you will not find anyone in the breakfast room but cleaning ladies. Afterwords it does not get better: it was by far the lousiest breakfast I had in the Balkans (think grease on top of scrambled eggs, etc.). If you can avoid staying there, do.

“Terrible hotel, stay away”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2009

All the reviews on this site are accurate !

I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and never again. The package was cheap but everything at that the hotel was terrible. It is an old hotel, with out of date rooms, arrogant staff, over run with german guests and the worst food i have eaten in a long time.

How anyone could enjoy this hotel or recommend people to go there is beyond me !!! There are so many other hotels in Croatia, stay somehwere else.

“Stay away from this Concentration Camp”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2008

The best I can say about this hotel is that it is in Croatia. But a part from that there is none.
The Staff is arrogant. The hotel manager doesn't speak English but when you start complaining in German he suddenly doesn't understand the German either.
We have booked the hotel from a travel agent (I must have done something terrible to him to recommend this place for us) . It started that we have booked a Sea view non smoking room but ended up being on th opposite side with no view of the sea rather with a view of the half parking lot. The room smelt like an ashtray. The beds were not 100% clean. They smelt like a 10 year old bed where mostly dogs and cavemen slept who don't like taking a showers , so it smelt terrible. They told us that I must have a very sensitive nose because they can not smell anything, but promised that next day they will try to move us to a different room. Next day for some reason they have already forgot about that. The guy at the reception forgot to leave a note about our complain to the next day staff. Great.
So next day we tried to complain to the front desk manager and the hotel manager but not much luck they told us that the hotel is full and either we stay in our 'cave' room or we can leave too because they can rent out our room in an hour. After that we decided to leave and never return to that concentration camp. So If you don't like dirty bed linens, rude hotel staff and smoky rooms I would highly recommend to stay away from this place.

  • Liked — the day we have left the hotel
  • Disliked — dirty sheets, smelly room, rude staff and manager,

“Canteen-like restaurant.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2008

Worst restaurant have every been in. Extremely large, crowded and very noisy. Nobody in charge, directing where to sit, telling staff what to do. Kept running out of things and didn't replace until customers made a fuss. Basically understaffed and disorganised.

Rooms not too bad and bathrooms excellent except for high-sided baths that were difficult for short people to access for shower.

“Booked 28 rooms for singles group”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2007

Just returned from our Croatia trip where we stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Pula. We had 28 rooms and no one complained to me about anything. We were all put in seaview rooms. This hotel is surrounded by lovely parklands with beautiful trees and a trail that leads down to the coast and a very nice little cove with topless sunbathing. It's a rocky beach but once in the water the swimming is nice.

The hotel rooms were nice. We were the only Americans here and were told we were the first group from the US. Not a problem for me. We did half-board with breakfast and dinner. That's a good choice since there is little within walking distance. Breakfast was a bit weak with few choices but dinner was better, although far from gourmet.

I enjoyed the live band they brought in to the bar area and they also had a disco that many of our people enjoyed.

Overall, a very nice experience, and especially for the price.

  • Liked — The location to the ocean and nice swimming cove
  • Disliked — It was a bit of a drive to historical center of Pula
