“One night was more than enough”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

My husband and I recently stayed here for one night. We had read all of the reviews so booked this hotel whilst being fully aware it needing updating etc. but as long as it was clean we didn't mind.
On entering the Hotel Brioni, it's like stepping back in time! Nothing has changed since the 1980's, it was bit surreal! We paid extra for a sea-view and yes the view was nice, but the room was very disappointing. Aside from the decor, the beds were creaky and uncomfortable and the carpet (yes carpet) was very grubby. There was also a very over-powering smell of floral disinfectant! As people have previously mentioned, there is no AC in the rooms and due to the heat, we had to leave the patio door open when we went to bed - unfortunately our neighbours sat out on their veranda talking loudly until the early hours. We had a very restless nights sleep.
Breakfast the following day was average - normal selection of breads, cereals, ham, cheese etc along with some hot food. There is a nice area outside to dine if you so wish. The hotel is located in a very scenic location and a short walk takes you down to the shore. With regards to parking, there is very limited parking directly outside the hotel but we never seen one free space during our stay and had to park a few minutes walk away. I probably woudln't choose to stay in this hotel again unless is underwent a serious re-vamp! It has alot of potential, shame that improvements have not been made.

“The most overpriced hotel ever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

This hotel is old and since nothing seems to have been changed since the 1960s, it actually looks sort of retro now, which I don't mind. What I do mind, however, is that while it has a huge lobby and big hallways, the rooms and bathrooms are tiny, the beds are creaky and there's no AC, no fridge or minibar. When it's 38 degrees in your room it's not much fun to be stuck with lukewarm drinks for the night. The scenery around the hotel is very nice, however, there is no parking! Upon arrival, we were told by the receptionist "to park anywhere". This meant that we were driving around for a long time until we finally found some parking (in front of another hotel, which I'm sure was happy that we used their parking lot). Another big problem was that despite what the receptionist said, the hotel beach is _not_ suitable for children! It's rocky with deep water. Luckily, we found a public pebble beach nearby, which was nice, if crowded. The biggest problem with the hotel, however, is the price. If the hotel uses 60s standards, the prices should be similar, too... Not to mention that since the hotel doesn't seem to have a double + extra bed option, with my five-year old, we were forced to pay for a "triple".

Room Tip: With experience from two different secions of the hotel, all rooms seems to be very noisy.

“Very nice...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

Stayed there for week.Staff is friendly and helpful if you need anything .Breakfast is good with fresh food and drinks...overall...it is 2 star hotel but you get what hou paid for...I notice that people complain about rooms...yes, they are small and cleaners use a lot of spray but again you should be on a beach and enjoy the hot hot weather....you come on holiday because of that-not to stay in a room... and in case of aircon-read small print before booking...so you would not be disappointed . Would I stay there again?? Without a doubt-yes!!!!

“Terrible, disgusting Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

Terrible...The hotel is perhaps 40 years old and nothing (and I mean nothing) has been updated ever since. Despite it’s age, it is built in an era/style that is totally devoid of any charm.

The carpet is disintegrating and is a patch work of stains…the whole place buzzes with the sound of old fluorescent lighting…the place has an unfortunate smell of dust, offensive fragrance and lost holiday dreams.

Our room stank of fragrance which was so overpowering we had to open all the windows and leave them open for the next 2 day (through the night!) and still the smell remains. Oh, and the hotel doesn’t use mattress covers! They fold a sheet over the top of discoloured mattresses so that you can see the multiple years of funk on the side of the mattresses. Double bed, forget it…we booked a double bed and were given 2 single beds. After complaining and showing our double bed booking they said they only had a 4-5 rooms with double beds and couldn’t give us one. What’s more the single beds creaked EVERY time you moved and on several occasions they woke me up at night. For completeness, there was no aircon, minibar/fridge…these were standard in the 60’s!

Breakfast…I won’t go into the details as they continue to make me feel ill but we didn’t eat there the second morning…

Seriously, I could go on and on and on with this one, but please just DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Superb Resort in a Fab Country!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Although the hotel is a 25-minute bus ride (take service 2A from main bus stop, costing 11 Kuna) from the centre of Pula, what we found upon arrival was superb. A hotel right on the sea front and with brilliant walking opportunities close by.

Room balconies a nice touch, especially with brilliant weather throughout our stay.

Brilliant breakfast available from friendly staff. Evening meals can be enjoyed at a range of local restaurants.

We would definitely recommend Hotel Brioni!
