We arrived in Dunrovnik after a 5 night stay in Split and 4.5 hour bus trip and was greeted by Stijepo, who is awesome!!! He met us at the main bus station and directed us to the apartment which is in a fabulous area of the old town. What's more is that it was boiling hot and he helped me with my bags all the way! Going through the old town he gave us a tour and pointed out all the best things to see, the places to eat, the supermarket and how to avoid the big groups coming in off the cruise ships. This was invaluable and we took his advice as much as possible. The apartment itself is situated at the top of a beautiful street in the heart of the old town. There are few steps to get to it but nothing unmanageable and the views are stunning, The apartment has a lovely kitchen area, good air con and more tv channels than you can shake a stick at!! The bathroom is well equiped and a reasonable shower. The only thing and this a personal thing is that the bed is in an odd position, it's not up against a wall and I kept losing my pillow over the back of the bed, but that's just me!!!
I could not recommend this enough for a short stay in Dubrovnik as it's location is perfect, a 2 min walk down some steps and your in the heart of the action.
Dubrovnik itself is truly beautiful and everything about it is fab. If you can, walk along the city walls and do the cable car as this gives you the best views you will ever see. Most things are resonable priced and a beer is on average £2.00 - £2.50 about 16 -20 Kuna so not bad at all. It's better to take Kuna's than Euro's. We took stijepo's advice and ate in the Konoba Taj Mahal although it sounds like a typical curry house dont be fooled this is traditional Bosnian cuisine at its best. We had to wait for a table but was well worth it and with two mains, sides, bread and a carafe of wine was less than £50, bargain. There's also the Pizza Mirakul next to it and the pizza there is lush and again at a reasonable price and there is also Toni's Spageterria in the same vicinity which has some top pasta dishes. If restaurants aren't your thing there's a number of takeaway places that does massive and tasty slices of pizza for less than £2.00 so if your on a budget ypu can still eat really well. There's loads of bars and they stay open quite late so if you like to soak up the evening atmosphere of this fabulous walled city then there's plenty of places to do this from.
We also did a trip to Montenegro, this was a long day but again well worth it and if you want to do shorter trips to Cavtat and the other islands then take a short walk to the little harbour area of the city and you will find lots of operators who do regular trips.
All in all Dubrovnik is a great city to visit and the Apartments Dubrovnik is a great place to stay, in a superb location to do it from.
