“A great place to stay for one of the most beautiful places.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Stijepo was an extremely hospitable and kind host. He took alot of time to sit down with us to explain the city. And his mother was so lovely, as was the pet turtle :-)
The apartment was a reasonable size and clean. The outside sitting area is wonderful. The bed was ok, a little uncomfortable. The location was great if you have the ability to be a mountain goat.. But in Croatia you have to beable to climb hills.
Next time I visit Dubrovnik I look forward to staying here again.

“downunder 62 in Dubrovnik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

We stayed in Stijepo's apartment in the old city and also in apartment Lavanda just outside the Ploce Gate. Each provided an excellent insight to different aspects of this historic town. The apartment in the old town was in a quiet garden lined narrow street away from the tourist hustle and bustle. The facilities were more than adequate. We were met by our wonderful warm host at the Pile Gate and walked through the old town. At every turn Stijepo (who insisted in carrying our bags) offered advice on where to eat and what to see. His enthusiasm for his town was most apparent. We returned to Dubrovnik a week later and stayed in the Lavanda apartment for three nights. The room was again excellent and we had magical views of the town and coast from the balcony. We returned to find little presents in the fridge courtesy of our host. His mother was also most welcoming and her warmth overcame any language difficulities. Nothing was too much trouble for Stijepo. We highly recommend this establishment to anyone wanting to experience the true Croatia.

“loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

My family of 4 (kids 9 and 12) stayed for 3 nights; husband and I in Lavanda and the kids in Old Port room next door. We felt extremely safe here and it has been the kids' favourite place so far on our holidays.
Stijepo and his mum were extremely helpful, both on arrival and during our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen (which we did use for dinner one night) functional.
The beach very close by was great and it was nice to see all the locals bathing there as well (and hand feeding a gull!).
Every morning we bought fresh local food at the market in the old town and enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace with incredible views. The ice cream shop and best place for cevapcici Stijepo recommended are a must!
We cannot imagine a better place to stay in Dubrovnik and loved every minute of it!
Would not dream of staying anywhere else next time and would recommend it to everyone.

“Enchanting location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

The Apt is small and low ceiling but... it's in a great location, on narrow stone laneway lined with plants, just an authentic ancient lane still with mostly locals living on it. It is off the main paths, in a building that has been in the host's family for hundreds of years.

Our 2 day visit in mid-Sept was hot 32+, so the quiet, shaded stone building was a relief from the heat and crowds on the main plazas.

Big plus was the swimming just around the corner from the apt (5 min walk along outer wall)
A small, old door opens onto the rock outcropping for diving into the amazingly clear Adriatic blue, deep and warm water. Coffee, beer and wine served surfside!

Stijepo is a great host/concierge. Very helpful when we arrived and there by phone if we ever needed.

“Delightful Dubrovnik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

We arrived in Dunrovnik after a 5 night stay in Split and 4.5 hour bus trip and was greeted by Stijepo, who is awesome!!! He met us at the main bus station and directed us to the apartment which is in a fabulous area of the old town. What's more is that it was boiling hot and he helped me with my bags all the way! Going through the old town he gave us a tour and pointed out all the best things to see, the places to eat, the supermarket and how to avoid the big groups coming in off the cruise ships. This was invaluable and we took his advice as much as possible. The apartment itself is situated at the top of a beautiful street in the heart of the old town. There are few steps to get to it but nothing unmanageable and the views are stunning, The apartment has a lovely kitchen area, good air con and more tv channels than you can shake a stick at!! The bathroom is well equiped and a reasonable shower. The only thing and this a personal thing is that the bed is in an odd position, it's not up against a wall and I kept losing my pillow over the back of the bed, but that's just me!!!
I could not recommend this enough for a short stay in Dubrovnik as it's location is perfect, a 2 min walk down some steps and your in the heart of the action.
Dubrovnik itself is truly beautiful and everything about it is fab. If you can, walk along the city walls and do the cable car as this gives you the best views you will ever see. Most things are resonable priced and a beer is on average £2.00 - £2.50 about 16 -20 Kuna so not bad at all. It's better to take Kuna's than Euro's. We took stijepo's advice and ate in the Konoba Taj Mahal although it sounds like a typical curry house dont be fooled this is traditional Bosnian cuisine at its best. We had to wait for a table but was well worth it and with two mains, sides, bread and a carafe of wine was less than £50, bargain. There's also the Pizza Mirakul next to it and the pizza there is lush and again at a reasonable price and there is also Toni's Spageterria in the same vicinity which has some top pasta dishes. If restaurants aren't your thing there's a number of takeaway places that does massive and tasty slices of pizza for less than £2.00 so if your on a budget ypu can still eat really well. There's loads of bars and they stay open quite late so if you like to soak up the evening atmosphere of this fabulous walled city then there's plenty of places to do this from.
We also did a trip to Montenegro, this was a long day but again well worth it and if you want to do shorter trips to Cavtat and the other islands then take a short walk to the little harbour area of the city and you will find lots of operators who do regular trips.
All in all Dubrovnik is a great city to visit and the Apartments Dubrovnik is a great place to stay, in a superb location to do it from.
