“Definitely worth the climb”

This was our first stop on our visit to Croatia and what a great choice! The owners emailed the week before we visited and offered to collect us from the airport, this was much appreciated after a very early flight. One of the owners, Milan, met us at the airport and during the journey to the apartment (about 20mins) he gave us some good tips about things to see and where to visit.

When we arrived at the apartment we were shown to our room and offered drinks. There was a small kitchen you could share with other rooms which was handy, although we didn’t use it. Then the other owner (sorry I can’t remember her name!) came and showed us where we were on a map, told us how to get around and pointed things out in the old town…from our balcony which had THE best views! She also gave us a card with the address of it so we could show to taxi drivers if we couldn’t face all the stairs.

As others have mentioned, there are LOADS of stairs. We are both young and fit and we still found it a challenge but most of Dubrovnik is the same and it was definitely worth it for the views. Plus there are loads of taxis available at the entrances to both gates at the old town so if you really can’t take the stairs it is just a short taxi ride.

Another tip about the stairs – use landmarks! We were so keen to get down to the old town that we didn’t pay much attention to which stairs we came down so when it was time to head back we went up the wrong stairs and ended up a bit lost! We soon found our way but then made sure we paid more attention next time!

I would definitely recommend Peric Rooms, it was an absolute bargain for the amazing views and hospitality.

“Worth the climb!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

Warning... Don't stay here unless you are fit enough to climb over 350 steps from the Old Town. Which is the only minor point.

We stayed in one of the apartments with kitchen and balcony. The apartment has a large double bedroom, bathroom (with washing machine), kitchenette, living room/ dinning room and a large balcony with fantastic views of the Old Town and Lockrum island.

Overall the apartment is very well equiped. However it would benefit from having some basic cooking ingredients such as salt, sugar and oil. Despite this we would highly recommend it you do not mind the climb.

“Beautiful Views but lots of steps!”

Excellent location, very clean rooms and lovely hosts. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea and Old Town. The owners were very friendly and helpful and also then left you alone to come and go as you please. Rooms have queen bed size, wardrobe, dresser and fridge with good shower facilities. Outside the room there is a shared kitchen area to make tea or coffee. Crockery was provided but not cutlery so take your own. Would definately recommend although you do need to be fit as approx. 350 steps to apartment from Old Town. Not an issue if you're fit and not carrying too much luggage. View is definately worth it though.

“Very good value, clean and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

This place was recommended to me by RebekahB who's review is below and it didnt disappoint! the owners organised a transfer for us from the airport and we arrived to them taking our bags in and providing refreshments. The apartment we stayed in could sleep 5 and there was 4 of us so loads of room, the balcony was huge with THE most amazing views of the beach and port. They cleaned the apartment each day plus changed sheets everything was spotless in there with room for bags and seating too inside and out.

The only downside would be the steps from the beach/port. We counted nearly 600 from the beach to the door, but at the same time this provided the most amazing views which were breathtaking. You can keep fit by staying here at least! But it didnt prove too much of an issue for 4 girls in their 30's who are relatively fit to manage.

Definitely stay here, great value, friendly people and brilliant views. I would return.

“Great little place, excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2009

Peric is one of those places you're torn between keeping to yourself and wishing them the success they deserve and so telling everyone. The apartments are quite a steep climb from the old town which provides an incredible view from the large balconies. The rooms are big, tastefully furnished, spotless, air conditioned and attended to every day. There's a fridge and access to a little kitchenette. The hosts are helpful and knowledgable about the area, recommending the best restaurant we went to there, booking us a car hire when we'd failed to find one and providing wine and stories as we waited to go out for dinner.

We paid E60 a night; a snip compared to the other rooms we looked at.

It is a tough climb up there, about 10 minutes in all from the centre of the old town, so not a problem for young and fit.
