We stayed with Ivo and his family in his excellent good value for money rooms (literally) a stones throw from the historic city walls.

This is a not a place for those who wish to be pampered by the five star hotel experience but then neither is it a five star price. This is a good value for money experience in a very convenient location with a most considerate and knowledgeable host. You actually share his home with his family but never feel like you are intruding.

Ivo also arranged for us to visit Mostar, and Kotor, Budva, and Bar in Montenegro. These were excellent and informative day-trips and should strongly be considered by anyone who is staying in Dubrovnik for more than a few days.

My wife and I spent Christmas holiday in Dubrovnik with Ivo and his family. The room was very nice and comfortable and was located right across the street from the old town city walls. We had limited time in Dubrovnik, and we wanted to make several day trips to nearby areas such as Kotor, Sarejavo, and Mosta. We were unable to organize suitable trips with local travel agencies, but Mr. Ivo was able to accomodate our needs, and we saw everything that we wanted to see. Mr. Ivo was a fantastic tour guide. In addition, we had several wonderful meals prepared by Ivo's wife Vestna. Overall, our trip was excellent in large part due to our wonderful accomodations.

I recently took a trip to the Western Balkans. I visited Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia. All three countries are rich in tremendous history and culture…and the landscape is a must see and most importantly the food is a must try!! The people were especially warm and friendly! I wanted to share a great accomodations for those looking to travel to Dubrovnik. I was traveling solo, and as a woman, I wanted to make sure that my accomodations were safe, clean and reasonably priced. After during some research I discovered Rooms IVO in Dubrovnik. Rooms IVO was perfect! Ivo and his family run a small guest house located next to the Old City. The ideal location…it was literally a 1 minute walk into the Old City walls and a 3 minute walk to view the beautiful sea. Ivo and his family were very accomadating and friendly. They even picked me up at the airport upon my arrival and dropped me off at the bus station when I left. The accomodations were basic, no fancy frills, but it was very clean and safe. Ivo even offers customized tours to Sarajevo, Mostar and Montenegro. He is very accomodating and will try his best to fullfill your requests. Ivo took me on a day tour to Montenegro where I was able to wander the villages, climbs the 1500 steps of the old fortress that overlook the bay of Kotor (I recommend you not wear flip flops!). Montenegro was beautiful and it was amazing to see that in such a short drive the landscape becomes very mountainous. I would HIGHLY recommend any traveller looking for a central location and warm croatian hospitality to stay at Rooms IVO! Oh, and they own the cutest dog!!!

Our positive experience at Rooms Ivo, an apartment owned by the genial and accomodating Ivo Gugic and his family, genuinely increased our enjoyment and appreciation of Dubrovnik - an unbelievably lovely, but somewhat overcrowded town in Croatia. First off, this is NOT the place to go if you are looking for opulence and maximum isolation. The specialty here is Ivo himself, a wonderful man who will just as happily take you on a side-trip to Montenegro as give you four extra towels. The rest of his family, who you see interacting as normal here - making dinner, doing homework - are really priceless. His wife will even make you a home-cooked Croatian dinner - if you ask nicely!

The apartment itself is centrally located adjacent to a central entrance to the Old Town walls and a five minute walk to City Beach, so there really is no better location. We definitely had the best room in the apartment (e.g., the one with the balcony view [unfortunately the parking lot obscures a pure view of the city walls slightly, but it was surprisingly not too loud or disturbing, noise-wise]). The rooms are filled with antiques, a good A/C and comfy pillows, but only the balcony room is en suite.

Overall, we adored Ivo and recommend this place for great hospitality in Dubrovnik!
