“Fantastic location, amazing terrace, great staff”

We spent three nights in room two at the Villa Wolff. We arrived by cab from the Dubrovnik airport, which cost around $45 CDN. This area of Lapad is a wonderful pedestrian zone, so the cab let us off in front of the beach and we walked 100 meters to the hotel, left our bags at the bottom of the many stairs up to Villa Wolff and checked in. Aside from the location, the best thing about Villa Wolff is it's terrace. There are wooden deck chairs, four larger tables for breakfast, covered with umbrellas and a nice cushioned nook in the back for sipping drinks in the late afternoon and evening. The terrace overlooks Lapad Bay, is beautifully landscaped and partially shaded by large palm trees. There's shade if you want to read, sun if you want to bake and always attentive service by the person at the nearby bar.
We were not all that impressed by our actual room, but we didn't come to Dubrovnik/Lapad to spend time inside. Our bed was very soft, it overlooked the pool at the next door hotel and room was quite small. But we also had the cheapest suite and from the nice people we met (there are only six rooms in the villa), we learned there are very nice larger rooms. One couple from Australia, had returned for a second trip.
The buffet breakfast (included) was very good - coffee/tea, cereal, local jams, toast, bread, lots of local fruit, yogourt, juice, etc. Guests may also order hot meals from the restaurant downstairs.
The nearby beach has excellent swimming and there's very good snorkeling just a little further out. You can swim off of the hotel's own access point or rent comfortable sun beds and umbrella for 70 kuna/day.
Nearby local buses provide excellent service, taking riders into Dubrovnik for 8 kuna. Go at night or early morning to avoid the crowds. Also, the nearby restaurant Levenat is not to be missed. To get there, turn right as you exit the hotel, follow the pathway until it ends and it is right there.
The staff at Villa Wolff were friendly and full of great advice. One woman in particular provided great service to one guest - by finding him local gluten-free food.

“Extremely friendly service”

It was the most friendly and kind hotel I have ever stayed with. The first morning we overslept and came out after 10:30AM, but the staff had kept the breakfast stuff for us, and happily served us with warm or cold dishes that could be selected from the menu. The view overlooking the sea is quite nice (there are some concrete resort hotel buildings here and there on the coast, but that may be inevitable), and because the hotel has such few rooms, the atmosphere was more like a relaxed private villa rather than a hotel. Wifi worked in the communal balcony but not so well in the rooms.

“God...what a place!”

Below is my e-mail back home. Suffice to say Villa Wolff is wonderful, and I want so much to go back, and will, and will stay there. The air conditioning was out the night we arrived. I wasn't happy, and the owner came early the next morning and sat outside until we got up to greet us and say he was sorry.

They own the restaraunt downstairs which had excellent mussells in cream sauce.

Croatian people rock!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well everybody....this is our last night in Croatia. It is
fantastic...better than I could hope for. We are staying in the Lapad Bay
in Dubrovnik. We are staying at a very small hotel that has just a few
rooms. They picked us up at the airport and we got there at midnite. I
asked about breakfast and he sai "whatever you want....you want it now? 24hrs a day!" with the biggest smile.

We took a boat tour of 3 surrounding islands which was fine....but the best
was the next day when we hopped on a scooter, rode 16 kilometeters and
stopped at a very small village called Cavtat http://www.cavtat.info/

I could have just stayed....everywhere we go there are no crowds...no big
waits.....and the people are cool. This goes for all of Croatia.

We then rented a car and went to Montenegro.....where they supposedly
filmed part of the latest James Bond movie Casino Royale....but they didn't
actually go there. Montenegro is the newest country in the world, becoming independent in 2006. The hotspot is Budva, it is the size, and will have
the status of Monte Carlo. But at half the price or less. The hotel
Splendid was like nothing I've seen. But seems more Russian somehow than Croatia.

“Wonderful seaside hotel and restaurant”

We found the location to be perfect, it's right on the waterfront with astounding views to the bay and you can reach the Old City into 10 minutes. Wonderful for a romantic getaway or just relaxing. We also found moving around the islands very easy with the hotel's yacht "Seawolff". Awesome sunset scenery from the hotel's restaurant "Casa" where we enjoyed all kinds of fresh seafood. Summarizing you can say this place has a special magical feel that you remember long after you leave.

“Felt at home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2010

I loved our stay at Villa Wolff:
- Outstanding service and top staff that loves their job
- Intimacy of a small hotel, I felt at home
- The information on the hotel web site corresponds with what I encountered
- very relaxing restaurant with good food right on the beach
- after a long day of sighseeing I loved coming back to the little bay and enjoyed the serenity (it took about 15' by bus to get to the historic center of Dubrovnik, and 10 by cab..)
