“Lovely Hotel, Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for three nights. It is ideally situated on a narrow side street off the main Stradum of the stunning walled city of Dubrovnik. We could walk everywhere, with access to all the sites. Our room was very clean, a decent size, and charmingly decorated in an Old World style but with everything we needed. We loved the breakfast, served each morning on tables set up on the cobbled little street, with big platters of fresh fruit to start and whatever we wanted from the menu. Delightful. And we loved the rooftop terrace, which we used to enjoy a bottle of wine from a nearby shop, to watch the sun down go down over this ancient city. The views are simply breath-taking.

Just be aware: this hotel has no elevator, and we were on the fourth floor. It was not a problem for us, but it could be for others, so ask about which floor your room is on if that is a potential issue. But do try to get to the roof terrace at sundown. You will never forget the sight of the encircling walls, the bell towers, the sea, and the swooping swallows circling overhead. Gorgeous.

Great location right in the middle of the old town. My room was small but clean and confortable. The price was high but a good deal considering the location.

“Great location, old Croatia feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

Hotel Stari Grad is located within the walls of the Old Town and is a quick walk from the Pile gate. It's on the ground level tier of the town which makes a huge difference when arriving with suitcases in the heat of the Croatian summer. There is no elevator so beware if stairs are not your thing. Rooms are basic.

“Wonderful Old Town Dubrovnik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Stari Grad Hotel in Dubrovnik is only one of 2 hotels in the Old Town. Wonderful location, walk everywhere. Small hotel, only 8 rooms. Very attentive staff. Modern bathroom, but shower too small. No lift.

Room Tip: Rooms very quiet. No lift.

“"Conveniently-located in Dubrovnik's Old Town."”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011
2

Stari Grad is one of only two hotels located in DBV's Old Town.
Vehicular traffic is not allowed in the Old Town. To reach the hotel
is relatively easy - the airport bus drops one off just outside the Old
Town's main gate, and it's only a hundred metres plus to the hotel.
Even a septuagenarian in reasonable shape can manage this luggage-
wheeling stretch. Leaving is another story! The bus operators
in their wisdom have decreed that the airport bus can be boarded
only at a designated bus-stop a long way up a steep hill, and beyond
any reasonable person's baggage-wheeling/carrying capabilities
(regardless of age!). The only alternative is to take a taxi/cab from the
incoming terminal, either to the designated departure bus-stop,
or directly to the airport. Take our advice and do the latter!

The Stari Grad is a well-run, friendly establishment in the heart of
DBV's action. The staff go out of their way to be helpful. Being up a
side-street off the main drag ensures that one enjoys quiet and
uninterrupted sleep. Has no elevator but staff willingly help hoist
one's bags. Breakfast is served in a very pleasant coffee shop right
next door. Has a roof terrace on which to relax and view the whole
town. DBV abounds in restaurants of every description and taste.
Two that are outstanding are Klarisa and Gil's - the former is located
in an old church cloister and the latter has an unrivalled view of the
St. John's Port.
