I have been back half a dozen times. The location simply cannot be beaten. Incredible views of the Adriatic and a quiet sanctuary from the madness of the cruise boat infested old town during the heat of the day. There is a choice of two beaches each a two minute walk from your apartment with no road or buildings in between. Then at dusk walk down the hill for 20 minutes to enjoy everything the old town has to offer in terms of .

OK this place is a little rough around the edges - you have to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the bathroom and the beds are not huge but if you prefer to spend your days swimming in amazing blue water and chilling out with a drink in a swing chair rather than watching tv from an A/C hotel room then this is the sort of place for you.

The owner has always been happy to help us with any questions or arrangements and it is a great place to stay if you want to be a bit more self sufficient than many of the other apartments in the area ie you have your own fridge/freezer/espresso maker/oven - even the use of the house BBQ for the fresh seafood from the local markets.

I have recommended this place to a dozen others who have all enjoyed it and I cant wait to get back there!!!

It is very nice play to stay but you have to take in the account that pictures on the web site are not actual - there are two really large hotels in the nearby and hotel guests use the beach so the beach is definitely not private. In th lagest apartments there are passable rooms so you have no privacy there.

Villa Smodlaka is a nice place very near the old city of Dubrovnik. The villa has magnificent views over the Adriatic and the place is lovely. But there are some important aspects that can be improved in order to offer an unforgettable stay.
First of all, the beds are too small (French size) and none apartment has twin beds.
Secondly, Ms. Smodlaka requires you to do the check out at 10 a.m for cleaning the room for the next guests and, literally, she pushes you out using the brush.
The payment is only possible by cash and, euros are the unique accepted currency.
For reservation you must send a deposit by bank transfer because she doesn´t accept credit card. This is very uncomfortable and sometimes not easy to do.
But if you are able to obviate all these drawbacks, Villa Smodlaka may be the best place to stay in Dubrovnik
