“It has seen far better days”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

I couldn't believe it when I read, after staying at the Sumratin, that it had been renovated in 2010 as I thought it was on its last legs and was ripe for doing up! On the positive side: it's in a great location - a few hundred yards to the beach; right on a lovely pedestrianised boulevard with excellent cafes and ice-cream parlours and close to the stop for a bus direct into the old town; helpful staff. On the down side: shabby (we had a torn net curtain for a curtain in our room); tatty (peeling paint round the window sill); cramped shower room; missing bed slats; noisy at night.

“Cute staying at the Dubrovnik”

We had a trip through Croatia from Zagreb to Dubrovnik and back on May 2011. It was nice trip. We have booked the night in the hotel Sumratin. The hotel is located in green area of Dubrovnik, nice pedestrian street and park surround the building. We rented car, and hotel provides the parking lot for free. Certainly I recommend this one to stay.

“It should be a 4 stars hotel”

There are many things to say about hotel Sumratin. First of all i stayed there for 3 nights and i really enjoyed. It was even more comfortable than my home. Breakfast and dinner foods were fine. Staff was really kind. I' v never told them but they cleaned my room every single day. The hotel was only 100-200 meters away from beach & busses. The only negative thing was; you should pay for internet (2€ for only 30 mins)

“Try to avoid staying here if you can”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

We spent our last night in Croatia here and it was the worst hotel out of all of them -what a disappointing end to a lovely hotel. The breakfast was pretty awful, and I'm of the opinion that if there is no decent fruit to offer, not to let a basket of mouldy fruit to be put on display. The rooms was supposedly non-smoking but our room was overpowered with cigarrette smells and reception made no attempt to help us (not even any air freshner). Both bathroom and bedroom was dark, falling apart and needing to be refurbished, as did the whole hotel. All was dark and dingy and the extra we paid for a 2nd floor bedroom with a tiny balcony with no chairs or table out there was a huge mistake. We were annoyed that we were getting kicked out of our rooms as early as 10am, and then when we reflected on it, we were happy to get there asap.

Room Tip: Don't pay more for a balcony -on the 2nd floor its tiny, and no chairs or table.

“Hygiene leaves much to be desired. Avoid.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

I stayed here, having read mixed reviews. On a positive note, the hotel is in excellent location in Lapad- close to beach and other lovely hotels and restaurants.Hotel Kompas has great music at night and very reasonable foods. Rooms in Hotle Sumratin are sufficient- plain and basic.Don'touch the food though! While having breakfast, I witnessed the waitress wipe some scrambled egg BACK INTO THE SERVING DISH :( I reported this to manager, despite his reassurances, I was not refunded for meals not eaten in this 'hotel'.
