“Ever slept in a shed?”

Villa Rasica, well there is a Villa but you probably wont be sleeping there!! The complex is made up of Chalet's which in ours, had a very unpleasant bathroom and absolutely no space whatsoever. If you want to get ready to go out at night in pleasent surroundings, dont stay here. We stayed in a Chalet that was supposedly for two people. The single beds were end to end, not very romantic for a couple, there were stains on the beds and pillows and the lamp covers were broken with sharp jagged edges sticking out. (I have pictures and video footage).
The bed sheets were changed but a big stain, which had gone through to the matress cover below and a big stain on the pillow, were still there after the maids had been in and 'cleaned' the hut. We complained, and to our amazement we came back the maid had turned the pillow over to hide the mark. Brilliant!! We went to see the rep on the second day to complain about the general state of the room and as she was talking to the receptionist in Croation, another of the receptionists commented to her that the room was not fit to live in. The other receptionist mentioned that the rooms were only fit for backpackers and students (I am not demeaning either, they were her words and not mine) and were not suitable for a couple on Holiday for 11 nights. We left the Hotel the next day and spent the next two days of our holiday trying to get some compensation from the company we booked it with, ( one of those that specialise in last minute deals). We were treated appalingly, they just did not want to know and palmed us off to another company, who were a little more helpful.
However, we agreed some compensation (half of the cost of our remaining days) but when I checked my bank account the had sold me approx £40 short. We did find another Hotel which was beautiful but ended up costing me and my partner an extra £500 EACH!!
Probably the most expensive Holiday I have ever been on!!
In my opinion, if you have slept in hostels and like that kind of experience then it maybe for you. If you are planning for a nice relaxing holiday as a couple or family, give this a massive wide birth!! Generally, Croatia was nice but be prepared to pay for it!!

“cheap and cheerful”

stayed here for a week july 06. expectations werent high as we choose a cheap option from our travel agency, but the place was fine. clean room, cleaned daily, nice hot showers and air conditioning. they were kinda cabin like and our one had no real views but again they were cheap. we were on half board and the buffet styled breakfasts were good, with lovely views from the dining area. the whole place is quite pretty with lovely stone work and vines along the main building and entrance. staff are very good, appreciated their help when they ordered pizza for us as we arrived after midnight starving. its located 10- 15min walk from the beach with a bus stop just outside to go to dubrovnik town centre and it has an outdoor bar on the premises and another one just outside the entrance. there are plenty of other hotels and restaurants close by for eating out in. overall we had a lovely week there and i'd consider it really good value for money. :-)

“A stable was all they could offer us!!!!”

When we arrived at the Villa Rasica, booked through a British Tour Company, as a last minute deal, we did not expect to have to stay in what can only be discribed as stables, that they had tried to convert, they were smelly and damp, absolutly disgusting, we refused to stay there and was moved to an other Hotel, where we duly had to pay quite a lot extra, so be warned of last minute deals even with "reputable companies". Other than this Dubrovnik is a beautiful place and Croatia is memorable, for the right reasons!!!

“Great value and location”

Stated here for a week in the summer. Very basic accomodation but clean, air-conditioned and capable staff. We had the half board option and the food was ok, not great but good enough, a few different options and it changed each night. Would recommend to fellow budget travellors!

“Good value”

We're just back from staying at the Villa Rasica. We stayed for five nights for roughly €200 b&b which when compared to the hotels in Dubrovnik is great value. The cabins are basic but clean, with plenty of hot water and fresh towels everyday. Breakfast was the usual fare. The setting is beautiful and it is only a short walk to two beaches and the harbour and a ten minute bus ride from the old city. Buses are frequent and about a euro a trip. The staff were helpful as well, so all in all I'd recommend staying there.
