“Want to save money?”

Really liked the location. Close to some really good restaurants(Levanat) and some cool bars(cave bar). Very close to a pebble beach. Unless you get room facing the bay you may be really disappointed. We had a good experience there but it depends what you're looking for. Our room was nothing special on the inside but we had a great little balcony with a great view of the bay. We spent most of our time exploring Lapad and the rest of Dubrovnik, when at our room we only hung out out on our balcony with great view or sleeping. Slept well there, oddly better than some of the far nicer places we stayed in. If that is what you're looking for then you should be fine. The staff there are also very friendly so that was a big plus. The area is a good alternative to staying near the tourist onslaught of the Old City and the price.

It is a big but not expensive hotel. The longest beach of Dubrovnik peninsula is very close to it.

“Cant understand how I booked this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

Can't understand how I booked this hotel after reading some of the reviews. The room faced onto a wall at the back and smelled of damp or something coming up from the drain in the bathroom. It was dark. Fortunately I had only booked two nights and I didnt complain to the management and ask for a different room so I shouldnt really complain here. The location is good. The bus stop to the old town is right outside and buses run from early to late and beach just across the road and down a few steps. It was lovely walking in the evening, turning right out of the hotel, reaching the end of the beach and then turning right we found a street full of reasonably prices restaurants. Lapad is a nice area to stay but not this hotel in the room we got. Breakfast was edible, in a separate building down the street, but not the choice we had in other hotels on this trip. In fact the second morning we didnt bother as we caught an early bus out of there to catch the 8am bus to Split. A beautiful journey along the coast.

“A definite thumbs down”

We stayed in the Adriatic Hotel in Lapad Bay for 1 night in October and 1 night was more than enough for us. This is an ugly hotel. Pros: 1) Location – this hotel is in beautiful Lapad Bay and near the beach. However, there are far nicer hotels on the same street and not much more expensive. It’s worth forking out a few more Kuna for the upgrade. Trust me! 2) Our rooms had balconies with a lovely view of Lapad Bay but the hotel is not nice so you’re not going to hang out on your balcony for long. Cons: 1) A very annoying Receptionist who tried to be funny but actually was very annoying. While checking us in, he tried to sell his offer of the hotel arranging a transfer to the airport, the next morning, for 250Kuna. When he realised we were not interested, he quickly became unfriendly and slapped our room keys on the counter. Instead, we arranged an airport transfer through another hotel in Lapad Bay (a couple of doors down) for 150Kuna. :-) 2) The hotel is really old fashioned and not in a nice, charming way. 3) It is very shabby, everywhere! 4) String was used to attach my shower head to the shower pole in my bathroom. The room furniture is like something you would NOT buy in a car boot sale because it is so old and worn and should be dumped. 5) The breakfasts are disgusting. There were several flies hovering over and landing on the cheese and ham, etc. while we were walking around the buffet trying to find something worth eating and none of the waitresses seem concerned about this. Also, the cereal and bread seemed stale. We came away hungry! 5) There is no pool area. 6) There is no lift. We are young, fit women, so climbing 3 flights of stairs did not bother us but this could be a major inconvenience for other guests. Overall, we would definitely not recommend this hotel. Seriously, there are far nicer hotels in the Lapad Bay area. Read the other reviews on hotels in Lapad Bay to find one which one suits you best and which IS worth booking!

“hotel was fine for what we needed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

the hotel looked very dated, as most of them around that area did but was fine for what we needed. .the beach is quiet with mostly locals and clean, but you can use any of the beaches because you still have to pay for sun beds. our air conditioning wasn't great but we slept no problem. staff were nice, a big draw back is the stairs and no lift. we counted nearly 100 from the beach to our room on 3rd floor, everyday a few times was a lot, maybe not suitable for older people. we went on the Katerina Cruise island excursion through the hotel which was brilliant and i would tell anyone to go on it. we thought the captain taking you to his house for lunch was a gimmick, but it really was his home and the food made by his family was beautiful fresh fish and loads of it. great value too and great people. the hotel food was ok breakfast wasn't great. after a while the dinning room is a bit dull to go to everyday but the views lovely.
