If you like your coffee in the morning stay away. The coffee was in one of those burco things and was really awful. We got rooms at the top of the hotel with sloping roofs so you literally had to bend over to cross the room as the roof was so low. On the plus side the hotel is pretty soundproof as it's built in stone but if you feel the cold bring something warm as the blankets are made out of dralon and have no heat in them at all. They changed the towels even though we left them on the rails most days and emptied the bins but that's all the cleaning staff did - they didn't tidy make the beds. The restaurent staff are quite pleasant but the guy in the bar was so rude it was funny. One of us had a cold and asked him for some hot water in cup to take a cough remedy and he told us we had to pay for tea - all conveyed in a really graceless manner. For the price though it's reasonable and it is very well situated near Lapad beach and near the bus station to take you into the old town. I'm glad I didn't take full board though as the food for breakfast wasn't great. Despite the low rating given to the restauarants generally in Dubrovnik particularly in the old town we found the food there rather good particularly Lanterna and Cafe Dubravnka which has a lovely view over the sea and the fortress.

“Convenient Location - Solid Budget Hotel”

Dubrovnik is lovely and Hotel Komodor is located at Lapad Bay about 2 miles from the Old City. The beach is a short 2 minute walk. The bus to the Old City stops around the corner if you are not inclined to walk. The hotel staff speaks excellent English, is responsive and aims to please. Breakfast is included but like all other European hotels on the planet the menu is always the same and trends toward "chow" quality. The taxi ride from the airport to Lapad (or anywhere) seems egregiously expensive - more than $50. In fact it all seems expensive relative to other destinations. Worth a couple of days checking out the incredible UNESCO world heritage site.

“Everything you would expect from a Holiday hotel”

An excellent choice of food from the hot and cold buffet for dinner. Breakfast nearly as good. For a 3 star hotel it exceeded expectations on food quality. Buffet style may not suit everyone. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Drinks were reasonably priced.

Rooms provided us with everything we required, a quiiet location even though our Hotel room was overlooking side a reasonably busy road. Close to the sea and local reastaurents and bars. Pool small but little competiton from others, maybe as it was not heated!
A 15 minute bus ride to the old town, which ran every 20 minutes. The local area was beautiful, sea clear and easily accessible.

“not more than average but a good price for a hotel i dubrovnik”

Cheap hotel located on the lapad peninsula. The room was very clean, breakfast was ok and the hotel is near the beach. But the rooms were small, there was no refrigiator and not possible to rent one. We paid extra for a balcony with seawiev, the balcony was also quite small and the seawiev was absent. The hotels is near a busstop, and a taxi ride to the old town costs about 60/70 kuna. If you are just looking for a cheap hotel and nothing more, hotel komodor is a good choice. But the dalmatian coast are full of beatiful places and hotels so I would recommend to choose another hotel to get the most of your vacation.

“very pleasant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

Recently stayed at the Komodor, superb locality to beach, bus stop, bars etc. We stayed half board, but wished we had done B & B. Food tasted better than it looked, staff very friendly. We did book a pool view room it certainly was a "pool view" as when we opened the patio doors we were right on the pool which we didnt like. We asked for another room which we got the next night, much bigger room with sea view on 3rd floor. Very dissapointed with lift situation as the lift was hardly ever working, each evening when we came back we had to ask for the lift, think they switch it off to save electricity ?. Had to lug our cases down 3 flights of stairs on departure. Not very good. So beware if your not very good on your legs!!!
