the room we stayed in was quite small but nice and clean .linen and towels changed dailyby our very friendly housemaid.a good selection of food on offer for dinner.anyone that moans about it must live in great luxury thats all i can say.good selection for breakfast and always greeted by smiling staff.only thing ,is the fact that is a lot of stairs to climb but didnt mind that too much, even though i was slightly disabled at the time of our holiday.stones throw from beacheven the rain didnt put us off as it is a lovely location and i would certainly go back again.

“fantastic short break unfortunately too short”

This was a perfect stay in a beautiful part of the world and my only possible critisism would be that we were on the 3rd floor and there was no lift but if thats all one can find fault with it can very easily be sorted, just ask for a ground floor room.If we were 20 years younger it would not have been a problem and it did not by any means spoil our stay.THANKYOU all at the Vis.Also the bus system to and from the old town of Dubrovnik was perfect.

“Fantastic views! Great Location! Rooms a little bit tired!”

Just had 5 nights at this hotel and although the rooms were a little bit dated the views from the restaurant and terrace were fabulous - which made breakfast and pre-dinner drinks a joy! The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good - plenty of choice and can eat as much as you want, although the tea & coffee bit disappointing!! Bus service into Dubrovnik (No 4 bus) runs right outside the hotel every 20 mins and takes 10-20 mins depending on traffic!! Be prepared to jostle for your place coming back from Pile gate!! If you intend to go into the sea take swim shoes as beach is pebbly. There's not an aweful lot to do in Lapad but there is a nice little promenade with bars and restaurants and a lovely coastal walk if you need a day off from trips or just to relax.
You can get to and from the airport via Atlas bus. You can catch this directly outside the airport after each flight - takes 30 mins and costs approx £4 each. Returning to the airport you can catch it from the main bus station or the cable car stop and they run in conjunction with departing flights.
Dubrovnik itself is a beautiful city - with its breath taking views from the city walls, charming little side streets full of shops, bars and restaurants (recomend konubo pupo and mea culpa!) and spectacular harbour. Hope you all have as nice a time as we did!!

“Great location - needs a facelift.”

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Picked this hotal as friends had stayed last year and had said it was only 20 minutes on the bus from Dubrovnik old town which is true (the number 4 bus is right outside the hotel and runs every 20 minutes or so). First impressions were not that great, was very old fashioned and could have done with a make over. However, room was very clean and large, as was the bathroom. Had a lovely sea view which we paid extra for. I think if you are going to stay here it is worth doing so as i noticed that some balconies overlooked the small car park or onto a wall! No lift so had to drag our cases up the stairs - luckily we were only on the first floor. I thought i had read that the hotel had its own private beach but although the beach bit was correct i don't think it was private - you also had to pay for sunbeds which i would have thought should have been free of charge for residents. Beach area also had some rubbish on it - empty beer cans and plastic bags! Breakfast was buffet style and there was quite a good choice - cereals, cold meats, cheese, rolls and some hot food. Did the trick! Didn't have dinner in there so can't comment on the standard of that but it was quite expensive and to be honest the resturant was more school canteen than romantic! There weren't a huge amount of bars and resturants near by but we found one pedestrianised area that had a fairly good choice - come out of the hotel on the beach side and just follow the bay round to the right - about a 10 minite walk. As mentioned the big plus for this hotel is the fact that you can get to Dubrovnik so easily on the bus. You can buy your tickets in the reception, the bus stoop is right out the front and drops you off right outside the main gate into the town. Couldn't be easier. The bay the hotel is in is very pretty and we usually spent a few hours on the beach before we got the bus into town. The beach has very large stones on it so if you don't want to pay for a sunbed take something padded to lie on. If you are looking for a base to rest your head while exploring Dubrovnik this hotel is fine. Don't have a drink in the bar though - the beer there was by far the most expensive we had paid out whole holiday - something like £4 per pint compared to anything from £1.15 to £2.50 .

“Great Hotel, fantastic week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

Just back from a week at the Hotel Vis and we had a great time. Had a fantastic room with a balcony and views over the sea. It was kept spotlessly clean, and the bathroom looked newly decorated. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel and were very impressed by both - lots of choices and good quality food.
Lovely terrace to sit on and watch the sunset each evening - we had a week of wonderful weather.
The bus stop to Dubrovnik is outside the hotel, with buses running every 20 minutes until very late, so easy to go to the city for the evening.
Dubrovnik is a wonderful city - would recommend the wall walk and the cable car ride.
Fantastic holiday.
