Stayed here for 2 nights a year after our first stay. Family just as friendly and informative. Room was clean with en suite, free internet in the kitchen and the communal balcony is a great place to chill. Bus is really easy to get to the old town, and lapad bay is a great place to relax before or after a hard days sightseeing.

The location of Begovic's is superb; high on a hill in Lapad with a leafy terrace of tables to relax and enjoy a great view over the hilly country around Lapad. Yes, 153 steps down to the centre of Lapad but you can walk the sloping street and avoid them. Lapad, with all the facilities, is a great base to visit Dubrovnik and the nearby islands as well as a relaxed and comfortable house to return to. The Begovic house has all you need to live in comfort as well as a warm welcome from friendly and profesional hosts at a reasonable price. Thank you "Amanda" and Mr Begovic for making our visit to Dubrovnik a high point of our trip. Your recommendations of restaurants and cruises were spot on, too. We stayed at the Begovic Boarding house for four nights in August. They were very helpful setting up the reservation via email and accomdating in picking us up and taking us to the airport. Like another reviewer, we didn't stay in Begovic proper, but rather in another person's house. The family was very welcoming and even had us sit with them and have juice and cake, but we didn't have the kitchen and internet right near us. We were able to use those ammenities, but we had to walk the few minutes over to the Begovic. It was a little unnerving for me because you are staying in someone's house. I felt uncomfortable that there was no office to ask questions. The family was very helpful when they were around, but I would have felt weird knocking on their door. Also, because we were staying with a family, it was a bit loud in the morning (there was a crying baby). The room itself was clean and well kept and the value is incredible. I would stay there again, since everything went smoothly, but I was a bit nervous at first.

My husband and I booked a double room ensuite for a 3 days stay in August. The family was really friendly when we contacted them by email to arrange the pick up from the ferry terminal. However, when we got there we were very surprised because we were taken to another house, owned by a woman that was really kind but didn't speak English at all! The room was very clean and overall we had a very pleasant stay, but unfortunately we couldn't enjoy the balcony, the conversations with the family, the kitchen, the internet and all the other features of the Begovic Boarding house that are mentioned in other reviews. The actual place was a couple of houses away and we could go there to use the facilities, but it's just not the same!! We found the woman that was hosting us very pleasant, but it must be noted that she was always around and that gave us very little privacy.

On the positive side, the location is really good. The bus stop to go to the old town is less than 5min walk from the house and Lapad is very relaxed and has lots of places to have dinner.
