We travelled to Dubrovnik with the intention of experiencing living within the Old Town at close quarters - Apartments Antuninska didn't disappoint!
Upon arrival found our apartment (No.1) well equipped except for a microwave, spacious, tidy and in good condition (see photos). The woman acting as caretaker, who lived just next door, was polite & helpful. Towels were changed midweek. Bath was a touch on the small side, however this was never going to be an issue for us as we were out and about every day to see the sights. If you want your luxuries, you stay in a hotel.
Couple of important points;
as the streets are narrow you do tend to be able to hear every word of a conversation in the street or the chatter of passers-by. However we found this could easily be solved by shutting the windows & turning on the air-conditioning.
Old Town = lots of steps = not for those lacking mobility. This is worth bearing in mind as you do have to carry your cases between the Buza gate entering the Old Town and the apartments. As a result the 7/8 minute walk can take somewhat longer.
So, in summary, the apartments were exactly what we were looking for. We got a great buzz out of getting up each day and being surrounded by a location that truly makes you feel as if you've gone back in time. If we're lucky enough to make it back to Dubrovnik we'll use the same base again.
