“A beautiful villa away from the crowds - a gem of a place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

A fantastic find. Great value for money with really helpful owners who helped carry our bags, arranged a taxi at the end of our stay and were flexible in the times we could have breakfast. Room 3 has lovely views down on to red tiled roofs and the sea, and it was a great place to come back to away from the hectic Old Town. The town is not so far away - 220 steps, but they are easily managed. I travelled with my 73 year old mother and we were both very pleased indeed with our stay here. The breakfast at 5 Euros each is well worth it, and the terrace overlooking the town is a pleasant place to enjoy it. A real find, I would highly recommend this place - it was the best value for money in our whole trip.

“A true sanctuary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

I will be recommending this quaint little B&B to anyone planning to visit Dubrovnik! On arrival we were met by the owners who proceeded to show us to our room which was located towards the bottom of the block of land which features wonderful gardens and a terrace close to an outdoor shower that you can use to cool off. Sun lounges are also at the guests disposition in our own little area. The owner showed us to our air-conditioned room and proceeded to point out it's other features. An electrician by trade, the room is entered using a hotel room key. There are data cables and adaptors at your disposition and a library area with guide books and novels. Wireless facilities are also available and the room had a satellite TV and fridge, bathroom, telephone (dial 10 for reception) etc. We were truly impressed and felt like this was our home away from home. Maps and suggestions on what to do and where to go are also dound in your room and the owner is more than happy to answer any questions! Situated above the old town, if you take the easy route down the steps which were pointed out to us, you arrive at Pile Gate - one of two entrances to the old city. We will definately stay here again.

“A beautiful place in Dubrovnik.”

This is a really nice place to stay in Dubrovnik. It is clean and has a great location right next to the Old City and the City Walls, which are the great tourist attractions. This is a four star guesthouse so we paid a little more than the 60 euros per night we would usually go for, but Dubrovnik is the most expensive place in Croatia and you sure get your money's worth. We had a huge room with a beautiful bathroom and a very nice bath (which was very good to lie in after a week of travelling). Breakfast is not included
(as is the case everywhere in Croatia, except fot hotels). The hosts are very helpful with the luggage and maps, and there is a beautiful garden where you can sit and enjoy a view of the ocean. I would definitely stay here again.

“Dubrovnik beauty without the crowds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2011

We chose this bed and breakfast on the strength of the TA reviews and were not disappointed. Dubrovnik old town is beautiful but can be very touristy, and Villa Busovina's location gets you the beauty without the crowds. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, air con is effective, and the hosts friendly and helpful. Breakfast is left out for you in the garden kitchen : a little unorthodox, but it works well and the spread is fine. Also they accept UK sterling cheques as a deposit, so no expensive bank transfer charges!

“Delightful experience, wonderful place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

I have nothing but superlatives to describe my stay at the Busovina. Much of what I say reiterates the April 19 review, but I shall repeat a few things. The location is wonderful. It is beyond the crowds ’down below’ and is in a lovely and quiet neighborhood with a series of great views. The little church that is a ‘stone's throw’ from the Busovina is a sight and experience of its own—it looks like a little abandoned building until Mass, and then it becomes a very nice experience. Some people have mentioned the steps. There are quite a few to the city and it takes a while to come back up, but as a 64 year old in average shape, I had no problem. The fact that it is a beautiful walk back to the apartment is also to be considered. I should note, finally, that there is a way to take a taxi almost to the Busovina, then walk down a very few steps, but I’m not sure how convenient that is.

The rooms themselves are superior. I stayed in the large upstairs, but I have seen the others; they are all nice. They are well-appointed, clean, and large, while the views are stunning. Meanwhile, the grounds of the Busovina are indeed, something to write home about. A very nice little garden and then covered patio that look out to the city and sea can relax the most jangled of nerves. Keep in mind that there are few rooms and so few guests. This is where I took my breakfast, which by the way was minimalist but was of good quality; it was more than enough for me.

The fact that the garden is an extension of the family home is an important part of the tale. The home and family do not intrude but are a pleasant surprise. Rastko, his wife Slavica, the two sweet dogs, and parrot are all non-intrusive, but it’s fun they are there. And the family is kind, pleasant and as helpful as you can ever imagine. I left a shirt in the closet and the next time Rastko was in Zagreb, he stopped by and dropped it off at my place!

In sum, this is a unique place that is an exceptional experience, especially if you want a pleasant, quiet, and leisurely pace; this is one of the one of the very best places I have known in years, and I tend to use B&Bs when possible. I have no hesitation giving it a top recommendation.
