Arriving with luggage we decided to get a taxi to Sobe Na Konalu. As it turns out this wasn't the best choice! The address given on the confirmation was Sinjska 8 and the taxi driver, quite fairly, took us to Sinjska. This is a windy, incredibly steep road and it was not clear where No.8 was, so we got out and went searching. As it turns out, you go to the top of the road and then up a number of steps… Not ideal in any circumstance, but with luggage it really isn't what you want!
I can honestly say the best thing to do if arriving at the new port/bus station is to wait for a number 3 bus. These arrive about 5 minutes after the time on the timetable as these all show the departure time from the point of origin, no matter where you are in the city (on this matter they arrive about 15 minutes after the time stated in the Old Town and around 25/30 minutes after the time stated at the bus stop - not station! - for Sobe Na Konalu). If you ask the driver for "2 Stanica na Magistrali" he should stop here, but for reference the actual stop is the second on the main road at the top of the hill (after leaving the old town the bus heads towards the new port, turns back on itself, then turns back towards the new port - this road). Once you're on this road there is an initial stop, and then some slip roads on your left - once these are clear ring the bell and you will be dropped off across the road from the handful of steps taking you to the apartments. Hopefully the link below will work and you can see where you need to be dropped off on Jadranska Ceska.

Buses are cheap costing 10 Kuna onboard, or 8 Kuna if bought beforehand. Pre-bought tickets are valid on most routes and do not have to be used on the day. The downside of the Number 3 is they are only every 50 or 55 minutes, so if you do need a taxi ask to be dropped off as above. Ours cost around 60/70 Kuna, but it may be slightly cheaper to the bus stop as it is a bit more direct.
Anyway, onto the accommodation… We were met by one of the friendly owners and showed to our room (we had arrived early as we had left Korcula around 06:00, but this wasn't the issue it is in many other European countries). The room was nice and spacious with a large bed, great views out over Dubrovnik, a dresser and the customary noisy Croatian fridge, which in this instance was that noisy it got turned off at night. The bathroom was also adequate with the usual facilities. We were then offered a welcome drink whilst sat on the terrace; another instance of Croatian hospitality.
I touched on great views and this is because Na Konulu is very much up in the hills. If you walk down to the Old Town this will take around 20/30 minutes; from the apartments you go down the steps and turn left, then down the first set of steps you come across and then the same again before arriving on a main road. Follow this along until you come to another main road and then follow this along (you will need to cross at the T-junction) until you come to some steps posted for the Old Town. We were in Dubrovnik early-July and it was hot even first thing or in the evening, so if there is a bus due I would recommend opting for that instead as it isn't the most scenic of walks until you hit the final steps. We only walked back on one occasion after the bus didn't stop for whatever infuriating reason, but this was the only time. I'm of decent fitness, but in the summer heat it is hard work and given the option of walking or paying £1 or so to be taken uphill it really is a no-brainer. Unsure of the time for the last bus but it is definitely after midnight and on this note you may wish to carry a pocket torch or, if you have a smartphone, download a flashlight app. This is because on two of our later nights, the light by the apartments had been turned off making it incredibly dark!
If we came to Dubrovnik again, I would certainly stay here again. Although the old town is achingly beautiful, you also pay achingly high prices to stay there. Though Na Konulu is seemingly out of the way, it has great access to both the old town & new port as detailed above, it is also a fraction of the price you can pay elsewhere in Dubrovnik. Trust me when I say that any money saved in Dubrovnik is a rarity indeed!
