“sea view room is noisy cruise ship view room.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Not knowing Dubrovnik, we stayed here because it was opposite the ferry port & were traveling early to island of kortula. The ferry's are first come first served & often fill quickly.
The hotel staff were lovely, but for the price it would be much smarter to stay in the old city. Although we walked there it was a decent 1/2 hour walk.
The main problem with this hotel was that I had an expectation that a sea view room would be tranquil, well not with the daily cruise ships moored directly opposite which keep noisy engines running, horns & smog.
Again, go for the old city especially if you are not lucky enough to have a long stay.

“Clean and Friendly - recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

This is a nice, clean hotel, very friendly staff in reception with a large area for breakfast. Staff are attentive but not overly familiar and the rooms were spacious. Rooms have air con and nice large bathrooms. It's 2.5 km from the old town of Dubrovnik so you need to get the bus in if you can - a taxi back cost 70 kunas - which I think was around £10 - not cheap. Dubrovnik old town though is fantastic and beautiful and Hotel Petka is a nice place to base yourself

“Well, they were very friendly when I went there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

I read the reviews and wasn't sure to stay at the hotel Petka. But at the end was a matter of a practical decision, it is very close to the bus station and I was arriving at night and didn't want to get lost trying to find other hotel. It was excellent!. The staff were very friendly and welcomed me when I arrived, it was very fast check-in, they provided good info about how to reach the old town and the show that I wanted to see. Good location, three lines to go to the Old town, the reception will indicate at what time the buses will stop (on your way to the city, the stop is in front of the hotel, on your way back it is a couple of blocks before it, so you have to check that). Good hotell I would not hesitate to stay there again (and I tried three hotels in the town).

“Good hotel in good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

The location was good, I got the airport bus to the main bus station and it was a 5 minute walk to the hotel. The bus stop to the old town was across the road from the hotel and takes about 15 minutes, however even though you can get 3 buses to the old town you sometimes have to wait 20minutes before one turns up and because of this it can be overcrowded. There is a big supermarket if you turn right out of the hotel if you need anything, but beware as I was shortchanged by the old man cashier.

My room was at the back so I didnt get the view of the port, only a view of houses and no balcony. My room was large, clean and basic, it has a TV and phone, and AC. and a few toiletries provided. it was visited by 2 cleaning maids daily. They emptied the bins, made the bed up, (but not change the sheets), change the bathroom towels. I did notice two old bars of soap on the shower ledge from previous occupants and they are probably still there now. The wifi was excellent when it was working but on some days it would takes 5 minutes just to load up "google".

The breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choices. There were the hot buffet which consisted of eggs, bacons, sausages, frankfurters, and on another counter there were continental breakfast, and a grill to make toast, as well as cereal, various small cakes and biscuits, salad, yogurt.

There is a hairdresser and Souvenir shop near reception, but Ive never seen the souvenir shop open when I was there. There are two restaurants, one in the area where you have breakfast and one on the floor below reception. you can either take the lift down or go outside of the hotel and walk down the stairs. I only went to the hotel restaurant once, the one downstairs. After I was seated, I was not given a menu. The waitresses did come over twice, once to take my room number and the second time I did not understand what she was trying to ask me. Im guessing it might have been whether I wanted the bill charged to my room. After 10 minutes I decided to walk over and get a menu myself, along with another guest who was also waiting for the menu. The food itself was good.

Room Tip: If you want a view of the harbour and a balcony, ask for a room on the front.

“convenient”

This is a lovely hotel. Rooms were small but spotless. The staff was helpful regarding transfers and taxis. Extremely nice breakfast, and lounge area. It is right on water front , so a lot of cruise boat people and ferry people coming and going which makes it very busy for the desk.

It is not a grand hotel as far as rooms go but I would recommend it for travellers.
