When our ferry from Italy got cancelled, Marc was incredibly accommodating and flexible. He made it work so that we could extend our stay -- as long as we were OK moving in between rooms. So we stayed in 3 of the 4 apartments during our trip:
Apartment 4: Small room on the ground floor with a double bed, tiny kitchen, and bathroom. Seemed like an ideal place for a solo traveler. For two of us, it worked fine for one night, but might have felt cramped if we had a longer stay. Had a great AC -- all of the apartments had air-conditioning that worked really well, which we really appreciated in the heat of August!
Apartment 3: Significantly larger than Apartment 4, Apartment 3 was also on the ground floor. We had no trouble with street noise (it's all pedestrian streets, just off the beaten tourist path) but there is a restaurant (Ribar) right below. Three backpackers shared this room the night before we moved in, so I believe the couch must fold-out to add an extra bed.
Apartment 2: By far the largest apartment we stayed in, Apartment 2 was setup with an open bedroom/kitchen and then a separate small living room (again with a couch that may have been a fold out, I'm not sure). We appreciated having that extra space for our luggage -- made getting ready in the mornings much easier! Apartment 2 also had a nice balcony; not much of a view, but gave us a great breeze.
Best thing about Karmen Apartments -- aside from the price -- is their location. They're situated just one street behind the port, so you've got easy access (2-3 min walk) to lots of restaurants and the daytrip boats, but you're off the "main drag" so there aren't hordes of other tourists underneath your windows. Plus, the entrance to the city walls is just a block away, so it's very easy to be one of the first up to beat the queue.
Very good stay!
Room Tip: Apartment 2 gives you some extra space & privacy, but Apartment 4 is great for solo travelers.
