This time review in points:

1. Location - 10-15 minutes walk from the historic center. Close-by: some restaurants, Koznum, kiosk with beer, open till midnight.

2. Service - outstanding. The two receptionists that were checking me in made me feel like this was a family hotel. Incredibily warm welcome plus proffesionalism, but without this (so often visible) corporate feel. The other staff I got to see over this three days were also superb.

3. Brekafast - very good. Also, the lunch-pack (which I got early in the morning because I had to leave before the breakfast) was freshly prepared, quite big and very tasty.

4. Room - spacious, modern, good bed, but:

a) TV was not working (there were literally hundreds of channels, but the sound was nothing but noise).

b) Air condition was working on its last breath. I mean it was maybe 24-25 degrees outside, so the AC was managing (barely). I don't want to know what would happen if there would be 35 degrees outside. Of course after 2-3 hours the temperature is OK, but remember that AC is not working when you're out of the room, so when you're back it will be hot for 2-3 hours.

c) The hot water in the shower takes 2-3 minutes to actually get there. At the beginning it's cold and you may get the feeling that there is no hot water. There is - don't worry.

d) The Internet connection is fast, relaible and free.

5. There is a free, secure parking at the back of the hotel, but the parking places are rather small and the whole parking is rather small.

6. The hotoel is ot cheap, but it's tough to find a cheap, reliable hotel in Split.

Overall - good stay, but the hotel could use some upgrades. The staff however made this stay much, much better!

This hotel is in no way more than a 2.5 star hotel. The only thing that merits a higher score is the very cute girl who checked us in. It was very clean, except for the worn and stained carpet, but the rooms are nothing special and the beds are hard. The buffet breakfast was ok with a good selection but some items were not the freshest.
I would only recommend this place for a quick overnite in Split, as we did.

This is a "Best Western" chain hotel....there's no discernable reason why it's named "Art Hotel", unless the owners are trying to make it sound classy and to conceal the fact that it's a soulless western chain joint. If you want a predictable stay without anything else, this hotel is fine. It's got dated "moderne" styling and internet access that sometimes works. But it's in a lousy, unattractive, but safe, part of town. My room looked out over a storage lot and it's obvious that housekeeping has been ignoring the huge stain on the light tan carpet that looked like someone dumped a cup of coffee on the floor years ago. But, if you want a quiet stay just overnight and you don't care about the neighborhood, view, or or that you have to walk 25 minutes from the Ferry/Bus station, this hotel will work for you.

The brekfast was the usual contiental meat/cheese and cereal buffet
Probably best suited to business
