“The place to stay in Split”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

The ideal hotel - the location within the palace walls is stunning, a small leisurely walk to the main Split promenade. The rooms are spacious, modern yet historic, comfortable and immaculate. The management and staff are exceptional, only too happy to assist you in any way they can. Escorted to and from Airport with friendly and informative conversation, we were even taken to the town near the airport for a quick conducted tour, We cannot recommend this Hotel more highly to friends and colleagues. Thank you for an amazing short break. New Year at the Hotel and along the promenade will always be remembered

“when visiting split you must stay at the vestibul palace!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

This is an elegant boutique hotel. The location is perfect, the rooms are fantastic and the service is exceptional.
The hotel sits just inside the palace walls and just a few steps from the seaside promenade. The rooms are extremely well appointed, integrating modern interiors and amenities within thousand year old walls. Treat yourself to room #6.
Both Anita and Branimir (who remembered us from a previous stay 4 years ago...and vice versa) provided us with unparalleled hospitality and service.....they are friendly, welcoming and thoughtful.....and are one of the many reasons why staying at the Vestibul Palace will make your experience in Split so unforgettable.

“Perfect hotel for short time stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We were two families having 4 rooms at this small hotel, so we took up about half the rooms! The reception we received was amazing. We called the hotel, as suggested by reviewers here, when we arrived in Split. It is impossible to find on your own! Don't even try! The amazing staff took all our bags (x8!). Please note parents; the kids were on the floor below us. Very safe but anyway. There's only two or so rooms per level. The rooms are fun, nice, clean and of good size. The location so so good in the old palace. We only had 2 nights here. Had we stayed more the noice at night time and no pool would have made me miserable. But for a shorter stay this is as good as it gets!

Dear Louise,
Thank you and we are glad you enjoyed your stay!!!
Unfortunatelly, we are in a UNESCO preotected building built in year 305, and therefore are very limited with room positionings and additional Hotel offers like a swimming pool. We are working hard on our future plans which involve similar offers and we hope it will be approved soon.
Best regards

“Lynn & Stephen Tour”

Wow! What a perfect place. Truly a work of art and very comfortable. But the best reason to stay here is the staff - more than five-star service. The rooms were a bit small but I assumed they would be. Everything else made up for that.

“Villa Dobric - Not what we were looking for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

people found this review helpful

When you try to book a room at Hotel Vestibul, Villa Dobric is included in the choice of rooms, so it's not completely clear you are staying at a separate location. The Hotel Vestibul must have been full, since this was our only option.

We like the boutique hotel type atmosphere, and this was not it. It felt more like we rented an apartment. There was really no interaction with staff or other guests. We could have had breakfast at Hotel Vestibul, but only if we paid an additional fee. It was not much of a continental breakfast either at our place.

Definitely did not think it was worth almost $300 a night. The valet parking is additional, so note the cost when they list that they have parking.

We felt Split deserves a day, but maybe not an overnight stay. However, if you are there in the evening, a visit to the Luxor bar is an amazing and different experience. You sit outside on a pillow in Peristil square and listen to music. What a great idea.

The idea of a town being built among a palace is historical, and definitely a unique experience, but the town is quite dirty with graffiti on the ruins, so next time, don't think we would stay here.

Room Tip: Looks like good reviews at Hotel Vesibul, so if they are full, try another place other than Villa Do...

Dear Guest,
Thanks for the review. I'm really sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your stay at Villa Dobric and the '3-dot' rating you gave us is a lesson for us all and we have changed the booking system descriptions to make it clearer for the future booking! As I have written before on this site, we are not perfect, we don't pretend we are, we just always try to be and I strongly encourage any of our guests to get in touch with Front desk if things aren't going their way. If any of our Guests feel they didn't get what they paid for, they should complain directly to the Front Office staff which are present in both of our building morning and afternoon.
We are very sorry thet you did not enjoy your stay in Split, and as in most of the big cities across the World, the city centre is a mixture of various subcultures which leaves the marks on the city walls.
We believe you have noticed that the Hotel Garage is much cheaper than the public parking lot, but there is allways a choice for the Guest to decide wheather they want to keep their car in a safe place by the Hotel or park somewhere on their own.

We are sorry that you found the breakfast unsatisfying, and we thank you for mentioning this so we could improve our offer and service.

As for the room rate, the highest price for a room in Villa Dobric in May, when you stayed here, is 217 Euro with taxes included. If you were charged more, please send me an e-mail with the copy of your receipt so we could refund if more than that was charged.

We hope to hear from you!
