“Great location - but away from the bustle”

We spent just one night here in August. Wanted two but they were fully booked. The owner was very helpful and found us an apartment round the corner for our second night, which was great as we were last-minute bookers and everywhere else seemed packed out. He saved our bacon.

Villa Anna was just what we needed - quiet and clean roooms, 10 minutes walk from the water front and the Diocletian Palace, but tucked away in a quiet street. Easy walk from the ferry port too, even with heavy bags. Very glad they had aircon, given the summer heat.

Breakfast was fine - plenty of it and my husband enjoyed the cooked breakfast. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, made you feel very welcome. Definately recommended!

“Great location and fine accomodations”

Hotel Ana is located 5 to 10 minutes walking from the Riva/Old City/Diocletian Palace in Split. It is also only 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from the train station, bus terminal, and ports for the ferry boats. You couldn't possible ask for a more centrally located accomodation. In spite of the central location, the room was very quiet and private, which my girlfriend and I certainly appreciated. The room itself was very clean and modern and came equipped with a well stocked refrigerator and ample closet splace. The staff was very polite and helpful in any question or request we had. The bathroom was amazing! The food at the buffet breakfast was okay, a little monotonous but certainly adequate. When we go back to Split, we may shop around for other places to stay that offer a better view, but then how much time are you going to spend in a hotel room looking at the the view, the real view is out there and finding such a conveniently located place that was so quiet and clean certainly offsets the view in my opinion.

A good location. Friendly staff. Front rooms are are very noisy as they face a busy street.

“Great location with the personal touch”

My wife & I stayed at the Vila Ana for three nights in Aug 2007 and found it to be a charming small hotel. It's in an excellent location about fifteen minutes walk from the port, and about ten minutes walk to the old city and the station.

Although located fairly close to a main road, it's set well back and we had no problem with traffic noise. Our room was comfortable and its efficient air conditioning was very welcome in the summer heat. The buffet breakfast, although limited in choice, was sufficient in quantity for our needs. We found the staff to be very helpful and they recommended a number of excellent restaurants for dinner.

Although they take all the usual cards for payment, they offer a ten per cent discount for cash. All in all, the Vila Ana offers good value for money in a central location, and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Lastly a tip. When walking from the Vila Ana to the old city, go along the traffic free Radunica (to the left of the hotel when facing it) which takes you directly to the Silver (Eastern) Gate - it's much nicer than the main road.

“good location, hard to find”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2007

The location is good if you arrive by car to take the ferry to the islands and you want spend some time to visit the historical centre of Split (which is really wonderful, with the remains of the Diocletian Palace and the narrow medieval streets).
3 minutes by car to the ferry port, 6-7 minutes on foot to the old city walls.
The room I stayed in was large, with 3 windows except in the bathroom where you need it most.
A suggestion: if you arrive by car, drive very very slowly, because the street of Villa Ana is one of the smallest in the world, and is very difficult to recognize it.
The breakfast is rather poor.
