The owner arranged for someone to collect me from the airport which was half the price of a local taxi.

My room was big, with wide screen tv, sky, films, and internet- yes all in my bedroom!

The place was very clean and showers were good.

Central location and on leaving I could store my bags there and use the lounge.

Only bad point was the lockers were too small

The main block is very central (just outside the palace walls and next to the market).
We stayed in a "room with shared bathroom - £50" which was about 5 mins from the main block and reception.
Room was clean, had a fridge, air-con and wi-fi, in a charming (green, quiet etc) area.
Shared bathroom with one other room was ok and communal terrace out the front of the house (which had 3 rooms in I think).
Good value for money for last minute Split accommodation which seems to be pretty steep in high season.
You can probably do better (cheaper) if you shopped around the private accommodation well in advance of visiting (i.e. not a week or so before)

We booked into this place thinking it would be a standard hostel. Instead we were put in a 3 bedroom fully self contained flat with everything we could ever need! There was cooking facilities, AC throughout, comfortable beds, a huge plasma screen. This was hostelling like Ive never seen before! I dont know if it was just an overflow place or if it was standard for them, but I know we really enjoyed ourselves staying there and wished we'd planned to stay longer! Of course, there was no breakfast, but the markets were just a short walk away. The location was outside of the palace, but no more than a 5 min walk gets you there. Our host showed us around and was very friendly, but we didnt seem much of them for the rest of the stay. Would definately recommend.

It may have been peak season, but this was the most expensive accommodation that we had in Croatia and if we could have found a room for ten times the price just to get out of there, we would have. Granted, it's a hostel, but subsequently we stayed in lovely hotels that were cheaper and cleaner and drier and smelt better. Our "apartment" was away from the Cro Paradise office and we had a private bathroom, but we slept on top of the bedding in a damp underground, windowless room. Others staying with them had been waiting for several hours for rooms and one poor girl was kicked out of the bed she had slept in the night before and was told there was no longer a reservation for her.
Finally, my husband and I are not finicky travelers, we can sleep in a ferry terminal with the best of them, but this room was extortion, and the only low point in our amazing trip to Croatia.
