“lovely hotel”

I am surprised this hotel is not ranked higher for the city of Split; it has a lot of charm. As I was traveling with a small group, I did not select this hotel myself. Initially I was disappointed that we were not located closer to the water; but after my first evening there, I appreciated the location and the accommodations. My room was a tad small, but the clever design of placing frosted glass between the bathroom and the main room made it feel much larger- the great thing: a large bathtub perfect for soaking in after a long day walking about in the sun in high season. Split feels like a medieval city perfectly frozen in time- yet also has modern elements. Unlike Dubrovnik's 'old city' area, this area of Split is both a tourist attraction as well as a living/working city. The hotel is adjacent to a daily fish street market which sums up the charm and functionality of the hotel itself. Rooms are clean, tastefully furnished and service was friendly; morning breakfast was good each day- in short I would recommend both this hotel and its location. You will be charmed walking the well worn stone streets of this town.

“A bit disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

The hotel is nice and comfortable, absolutely adorable. The breakfast is ok, although they could offer tea, coffee and hot chocolate on demand. However, the manager did not show much concern for our difficulties connecting to the network: the internet connection was simlply unavailable in our room. No solution was poposed. The different stocks were continuously kept in the dark, and the manager keeps the entrance door closed at all time (you have to ring and wait... even under the pouring rain at 1 AM). All in all, a mitigated feeling.

We stayed in this hotel in May, what a quaint, nice little hotel. The rooms were lovely, the staff was very nice and we loved the atmosphere! It was great to be in the heart of the old town too!

“Perfect for this time of year”

Perfect for this time of year. Lived there 3 days in late October (assuming we would choose a hotel closer to the beach during summer vacation) Our room was very good and the hotel very nice and clean with friendly and service minded staff, some small reception area. Very good location in central city/old town , note that the church bell starts early in the morning.

“Very Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We spent 3 nights there early to mid September, it was a bit disappointing. The rooms were a decent size. Its clean. Its technically a 4 star but not a 4 start like Paris, Rome or London, its more like a 3 star in any other place. The towels were the size of postage stamps, toiletries a bit depressing and the idea of replacing/ refiling the ones used seems puzzling to the staff. One of the front desk people is sightly challenged as far as directions, twice she sent us to the wrong place, later on the trip we ran into a couple that had also stayed there they had had a similar experience. The breakfast is disappointing, one poor server running ragged its choices a bit paltry. Its well located, even though the smell of the fish market permeates the room if you open the windows in the morning.
