We stayed at the Split Inn Apartments for 5 nights in September and was extremely pleased with our choice. We had the best time in Split and would highly recommend the Split Inn apartments as a good base to explore the city from. We too had the upper apartment in the block of two and was perfect for us. Good air con, two little balconies, a tv, a nice little breakfast bar and a good fridge. I must though mention the bathroom which was lush, better than a lot of hotels that charge a fortune. A good shower, big sink, plenty of hot water and very, very clean. There's so much to do in Split that your out for most of the day and night but a good bathroom is essential and this one was top notch. We had the airport pick up which some may think was a bit pricey but worth every penny as the driver was waiting in the airport for us bang on time, and we were out of the airport and at the apartment in about an hour! Dean meet us and took us to the apartment. Dean is really cool and gave us lots of advice, a map and again recommended some good restaurants. The apartments are close to the edge of the Riveria about 5 mins away, so close to everything that after a couple of nights it's like you've lived there all your life!! The only thing I would say about the apartments is that there are 27 steps to get to it which was fine for us, my thighs got a good workout everyday but if you do have walking difficulties then maybe check which apartment you will be getting, other than that the apartment is excellent.
Having had a few nights in Split then we got to go to lots of places. The bar at the top of the hill from the apartments is a must visit as the views are awesome. The restaurants vary in price the Konoba Marjam is good and reasonably priced at about £25 for two with drinks and does good fish. The pizza is Split is awesome even from the takeaway bars for less than £1.50 a slice, so you can make it as cheap or expensive as you like depending on your budget. Pivo, (beer) is on average 16 kuna, (£ 2.00) some places a little cheaper and some a bit more expensive but £2.50 tops. Local spirits are cheaper than your standard makes. The only thing if you do like to stay out a bit later is that the majority of cafe bars close at about 12, some 1 at the weekend so head to the beach area if you want to stay out later which is about a 10-15 minute walk away but if you want to party all night you can!!!
We visited Hvar, lovely for a day or overnight stay and Trogir is nice too which you can get to by boat or bus but check the timetables depending on the time of year you go as they can change. The beach is not your typical beach but good if you dont like sand getting everywhere!! Honestly Split is a great place, where else can you have a great meal and a few drinks whilst being in the grounds of a palace? Forget going anywhere where else for a short break, Split and the Split Inn apartments should be top of your list!! Sorry to go on for so long but it was a great holiday!!!
