I booked this over the internet and of course checked out the photos and info but when we arrived the apartment was nothing like I had seen on the internet. It was in an old building and no views of the main square as described. In was an apartment in a dirty building that looked as if somebody was still living in it as there were belongings everywhere. I suspect a student lives here and is away for the summer. There was an old lady living in a room at the front - all very strange. Thankfully we had not paid in advance and left. Beware when dealing with these people.

“Adequate and clean”
The owner was helpful and kind. The room was fine for the price and had a very good location. It was clean, cheery but simple. The room is several floors up and the bathroom was shared with at least one other room or perhaps 2.
I love Split and will return but will probably look for a different place to stay. There is nothing wrong with Carpe Diem..I just would want to see what else Split has to offer.

“Great location, but some major problems...”

Some issues we encountered:
- Although we booked a room on Hotels.com before noon, the staff hadn´t heard of our booking when we arrived the same day, at 22.00. Guess we were just lucky there was a room available.
- When we commented that the TV was broken, we were just met by a "We're sorry". We were sorry too.
- Only accepts cash. Up-front.
Apart from this, it was (for being a hostel) quite clean and welcoming, and with a great location close to the old town. They need to put up a sign outside though, cause it was virtually invisible from the street.
Wouldn´t stay there again.
