“Highly recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Very good location - 5 to 10 minutes walk from the centre of Split, but in a calm street, away from the crowds. We had a large, clean double room, with a balcony and an amazing view. The bathroom was shared with one other room, but was just next our room and very clean. A friendly welcome - would definitely recommend this guesthouse.

“Friendly, with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

Stayed there for 2 nights, based on some good reviews. And you get what you expect: Pretty basic rooms (i think they rent two rooms on the top floor, with a shared bathroom), but each feature a balcony and an air condition. The room i stayed in had a balcony with an absolutely amazing view over the city! This in itself, in addition to the friendly family and the good area, is totally worth the money...

It is located a bit up hill from the city center (about 10 mins walk), in a silent and peaceful part of Split. Actually the walk uphill, through the narrow passages, and with people siting outside of cafes, is a very nice end/beginning of the evening.

Oh, and the staff is very helpful, although they prefer to speak German, so there can be a language barrier. But, there is a younger person which helps you when you arrive, i think its their son/son-in-law, speaks very good english.

would definetly stay there again if i go back to split

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the best view:)

“Perfect Location & Charming Hosts”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We loved this place!

It IS pretty basic, and with a very small shared bathroom. But it is super cheap! And the location is superb.

This is a large old house converted into rental rooms. So the kitchen and washroom are shared. But there was only one other couple in the house, so it never felt cramped.

We had a large bedroom with air conditioning, a TV (which we never used) and a private balcony. It felt safe, very clean and more than adequate for our 3 night stay. Easy walk to train station, beach, restaurants, palace etc. but not too noisy. Very neighbourhood-y too, despite being so close to the centre of everything.

The hosts, Miki and Ana (who do NOT live on the property) were so lovely, we stayed an extra night. Would reccomend and would stay again.

Room Tip: TIP: If travelling by train, be prepared for crowds of locals awaiting your arrival, eager to rent y...

“great - friendly family run business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

stayed here for one night on the way home from our trip and the people were so friendly. they met us near the port when we arrived and took us to where we'd be staying - also pointed out a good restaurant on the way there which we went to that evening (very nice). they even offered to take us to the airport in the morning for 260 kuna which was so convenient and saved us calling a taxi as we were leaving very early. the room was great, excellent view of the town and the port and all the facilities were spotless. definitely recommend to anyone!!!

“Disappointing, poorly thought out”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

Rooms were reasonably done up if a bit small, and the a/c was a plus. The rest of the house (shared bathroom, kitchen) felt tired, dingy and outdated, with several things broken/damaged that hadn't been fixed. The shared bathroom was a particular low point, being extremely narrow with a tiny sink and a shower head that no longer attached to the wall.

Service was poor. We spoke to someone in English on the phone, but the person who actually met us spoke only German. This made communication difficult and frustrating. As the house we stayed in was unstaffed, and a considerable distance from the main guest house (which we never found), we were basically handed a room key and left to get on with it. Oh, and someone knocked on our door so they could get on with the cleaning shortly *before* the scheduled check-out time, no big deal in itself but indicative of the general approach.

Your mileage may vary (if you get a room in the main house and/or if you speak German), but otherwise avoid this place, even at the price.
